I have the M50 and the EOS RP. My M50 starts looking fuzzy around 6400, while the RP still looks good at 12800. Go figure. I tend to under expose - 1/3 to -2/3 stop on my M50. Should I just run at stated ( +/- 0) exposure? My RP seems to be better at getting correct exposure, without compensation.

I’ve found that I have to tweak the M50’s exposure a lot to correct it, but usually not more than 1/3 stop.

canon sensor is not like sony sensor, most of sony sensor is ISO invariance. while canon is not. this is makes the exposure trick a little bit different. thats why canon pro photographer invented the trick of ETTR or exposing to the right, because they found out that canon sensor is better retaining the details from over expose. while many other camera user will tell you the trick of exposing to the left, this due to the nature of sony sensors that is better on recovering details from underexpose. you can watch dynamic range comparison between for example RP vs z5 from slanted lens, they found that the z5 easily recover from underexpose but the RP has better retaining details when overexpose. because nikon z5 sensor made by sony.

As a M50 user found that interesting. If you did clean it up in editing, would it be compatable with the R5 without editing ?
@BillEricPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Once you get to ISO 12,800 on the M50, no you really can’t do much with it I’m editing without it looking edited. You can clean up an ISO6400 image decently but I wouldn’t count on that for a paid shoot.

@@BillEricPhotography Must admit I have limited max on mine to 3200 and they seem to clean up OK. Will try up to 6400 see how it goes.

That’s a good idea especially if using auto ISO

What if you shot at f-11 or higher? How would the images compare?
@BillEricPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Basically the same, I was just comparing the noise in the high ISO shots
@kstofkos3 жыл бұрын
@@BillEricPhotography yes, understand. I didn't know if the noise would be slightly reduced if you are initially allowing more light in the lens.
