Canon Picture Profile Options

I can’t believe how much the background color changed! That was really the stand out for me. Even though the skin tones also changed, they all did a good job of not making the skin tone really weird.

I was looking at the skin color as I was editing and they definitely changed the way they looked once I uploaded the footage to KZbin. I'm going to get outside for the next 2 color correcting and grading videos. That purple background can be distracting and I want to be in a location with more dynamic range.

@@faspete2nd yes, I could see the skin tone change, but felt it never got super weird or unusable. Fuji has a landscape color profile that makes skin tones orange, basically ruins the footage if you use it on people.

I have two cameras that I like for different things. Love my Canon EOS-R for shooting indoors in low light and used it when shooting live music events for friends. I love my 7-D Mark II for landscape and sports photography.

Both good choices! I'm loving the animal eye detect in the R5 and R6. I can't go back. It's a game changer.

Canon EOS 250D , ideal color settings need to adjust NEUTRAL to 3-2-2,1,1,0 . You will get normal real color spectrum colors for both people and landscape,mountains,sea. Just perfect for holiday settings.

Thanks for the comparison of the different color profiles. I downloaded the Technicolor CineStyle profile on my M6 Mark II which is available for free and should be good for color grading in post production. Since my focus is on RAW photography I haven’t tried it a lot yet.

Good to know about the download. For some reason I'm hesitant to download stuff to my camera if it does not come from Canon.

the good thing is when downloading picture profile it doesnt change anything in the firmware of the camera, it will just add an extra picture profile to the custom picture profile with the tweaks of the log profile and you should be all good :) I have downloaded cinystyle as well as c log and they both work great!

I downloaded the cinestyle onto my M6 Mark II after you told me to and then I did a color grading video called Color Checker VS Color Checker using the cinestyle profile.

Do you have to preselect the picture profiles in camera? Or can you apply different profiles in cam after taking pictures?

Was this video shot on Canon M6 Mark 2? This looks great. People keep saying it doesn't have high bit rate and so on. Does that even matter?

I shot the video with the M6 Mark II in 4K with the exception of the 1 clip of the C-Log 3. That was shot with the Canon R5. To some extent bit rate matters, but for the average person just messing around on KZbin the bit rate on the M6 is just fine.
