Uh, just curious. The R5M2 can do s-raw 4k 24 fps, why not film there instead of 60 fps then drop it into 24 fps?
@JaredHoymanАй бұрын
Because in order to slow it down to 40% in a timeline of 24p you need to film in 60fps. Shooting high frame rates and then slowing down into a 24p timeframe gives a nice slow motion with minimal jerk to the footage. You cant slow down 24p by half or more the speed or it will look choppy because of the missing frames.
@KatieF307Ай бұрын
@@JaredHoyman Okay, that makes sense. I did not realize you were looking at slow motion, I think of slow motion as shooting in 120 or 240 fps

Looks awesome. I'm super excited to get mine if UPS ever gets it here. How much lower is the dynamic range of non-raw clog2 vs sRaw? I shoot almost exlusively real estate and am super excited about this camera. I got so jealous of people with a7siii's with its incredible dynamic range so I hope this will compete.

Dynamic range is the same as far as I can tell between RAW and Clog 2. The only difference is you can change white balance and ISO in post with RAW. I will probably use clog2 in most cases, but its good to get used to shooting and editing raw. You will love the camera!

I am curious about some of your footage. Do you do the walk-through with just handheld, or do you set up slider shots? The R5M2 has grown on me a lot since I got it in July. I have been exploring more and more of the video capabilities. I used to do a ton of video work about 10-15 years ago, then parked all of the gear. Other priorities. I know one of the guys on KZbin was having a meltdown about what he thought was poor video quality, but I just do not see it. I am more amazed at the amount of video capability that Canon threw into this hybrid. I have to admit though, I am getting the video creation bug back, and I am tempted to pick up an R5C as well.

Does 4K SRAW 60p records in 35mm full frame or chage to super 35 like Canon r5c does? How is sRAW and clog2 compared and what is the record limit? I know the original r5 produce heat whithin 25-30mins. This is my concern for the canon r5 mark 2.
@JaredHoyman4 ай бұрын
@@simonbonny6800 it records in full frame and based on the results makes me think it’s actually oversampled. sRAW is sharper with more detail than clog2. It’s 12bit vs 10bit color so more color to work with. Files are big but worth it. In 60fps sRAW does start to heat up around 15min. I haven’t used the fan yet but that should help. It cools down fast.

Also I forgot to ad this how do you perfer the camera for video compare to r5 Mark 2 and r5c? I been thinking purchase r5 mark 2 or get r5c second hand and purchase Canon rf 10-24 f4 L lens (so the focal length will become 16mm for Super 35 4K Raw 60p) Thank you

Hi Jared ! I found that My Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 4K 60 fps with "Automatic HDR" mode activated (via the mobile app 'Samsung Camera Assistant') have a much more better dynamic range than My Canon R6 Mark 2 - 4K 60fps with CLog 3 activated. I know that's crazy but it's true ! I'm talking about the "classic" HDR mode (not the HDR10+)
@JaredHoyman4 ай бұрын
Cell phones are crazy now days. I’m assuming that’s just 8bit and not 10bit video? The down side always with cell phones is noise and artifacting since their sensors are so small. A aps-c or full frame will always out perform image quality but as far as dynamic range goes I’m guessing that’s all done with processing. The r6ii should allow you to still push colors further in post without ruining the footage.
@KatieF307Ай бұрын
Jared, this may be off-topic, but are you importing the raw files into your computer? Are you using Mac or PC? Have you tried the RAW files into Final Cut Pro X or 11? I have tried importing, but it is very slow going even on a new Macbook Pro with M4 max processor. Just curious.
@JaredHoymanАй бұрын
Yes I am. I’m using a MacBook Pro M2 Max and storing on my Network attached storage. I have Final Cut but never learned how to use it. I use Davinci resolve studio 100% of the time and it runs smooth in raw. 8k 60 may not run as smooth but 24fps is very smooth. Let me know if that helps.

@@adamfalgout6601 I say if you are happy with Premiere and it helps your work flow then keep using it. For me I liked the buy once and get unlimited updates for life and Resolve is like having Audition, after effects and premiere all in one. I think both are good options. I actually kept premiere subscription for a few months after I bought Davinci Resolve because I wanted the option to go back if I didn't like it.
