I built out the exact same rig with an R6 mk ii, although I used a DTAP 4 way cable splitter so I could add a MagicFiz wireless focus with handle grip for focusing. It shoots 6K ProresRAW which looks way better. That option shoots in CLOG2/cinema gamut on the Ninja V+, and gives superior footage to the CLOG3/BT2020 ProResHQ option. If you use the RF f2 28-70 lens you’ll need the next size up matte box 2660 with the 114mm thread. This looks almost as good as Red Komodo X footage in my tests.

Excellent video Ashston. I own the R6 and Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art lens and it’s a perfect combination. This lens is super sharp and I’m really happy with it.. I’m looking for a compact rig set up and this video has been super useful, thank you. I like the SmallRig setup however the only thing that is stopping me from purchasing is the the SmallRig logo. I don’t particularly like it and the fact that they put the logo on every component makes it look worse in my opinion.. besides that the shape and design of each component looks very sleek and the way you put it together looks perfect..

Hey buddy, thank you so much for watching and I couldn’t agree with you more. I hate the logo myself, especially now they put that red logo in the front of the cage but you know what I just bite the bullet and get on with it because it looks so sexy and pro when you are working with it. I just ignore the logo, you can always paint over it lol or stick gaffer tape on it. Yeah it’s the perfect set up for the r6/r5 and yes, the Sigma 50 1.4 is truly one of the sharpest lenses I’ve ever used actually I own 20, 35 & 50 Sigma art lens. Hello, I use this with a canon 85mm lens and it looks like the matte box is too heavy and causing a lens error whenever I tilt the rig downwards. If I use the rod clamp to support the mattebox rhen the lens is locked and not able to focus since it comes in and out while trying to focus. Is it just the lens that is not compatible?
@ashstonk6 ай бұрын
Hey thank you so much for watching. Perhaps try using it without the support clamp because you don’t really need the support clamp at all. I just put it on there just for some extra security but you don’t really necessarily need it. None of all my lens is our prime, so I don’t have no issues with the lenses. Don’t move at all so maybe Try without the support for the mat box or and then you can zoom in and out because once I use it on my canon 24-70 which is a zoom lens and I just did not put the support clamp on so that the box can move freely forward and backwards
