It's another case of youtubbers and people over reacting and couldn't back it with their own gameplay but still created thumbnails that encourage and spread misinformation. That's the problem i have with this. It's also the same thing that happened when Capcom buffed Ryu's OD Denjin Hashogeki and what happened when people like this uploaded spreaded misinformation about that? It ended up being one of the contributing factors of getting OD Denjin Hashogeki nerfed. It's ridiculous and stupid.

Very good question. I think it's due to laziness on the game designer part. For example, look at Marisa. Thanks to her buffs and not balancing her damage output in consideration of the characters, she can now easily do 80% damages. That is absurd.

In most SF games from the 90s, Ryu is quite strong. In SF2 HF in particular, he is arguably the best character. It's only in the modern era that he is so middling

Sadly, he still IS mid. The buff only assist but no way enough to move him up the tier position. He is still in a sad place with is mid B tier, and it looks like Terry may have surpassed him. In fact, Kimberly may have passed him too which will put Ryu further down the tier listing. We'll have to see how everyone does with Ryu in the next couple of weeks.

If high-mid tier is where he ends up, I think that’s a good spot for him to be. Up until more recently, it felt like Ryu was over-shadowed by Luke (especially true in SFV) and if Capcom is giving players more reason to play him (and how to fight against him…), that’s good news in my book.

The response to donkey kick is to parry, drive impact, dragon punch or any armored move ... donkey kick can no longer be punished on block, and that's really messed up 🛡 After watching this set, gotta say ... you gotta practice your bread and butter combos, so you don't drop them anymore ... there's no need for max damage punishes if you drop combos 🔰

It is react-able, but what are you going to react with? It's got a disjointed hit-box. Some of those players tried to DI and was late -- got DI'd back and paid for it. I suppose you will say "just perfect parry." Not even Tokido and Kakeru could consistently hit Honda headbutt PP's as soon as they had the Honda mix up the speeds. I think players will work is into their burn-out gameplan.

Kinda like, MachoorTV mentioned, do heavy version to send message to opponent that you can & will willing to do it, they better parry it or whatever. Then you do the light version to catch them. Without the heavy version, the light version game plan do not take shape.
