I used to work there from 1998-2002 in PVD, best job ever for a young aviation enthusiast. Some of the pilots were really awesome, In the off season I would jump on flights and ride right seat with the pilot all day. A lot of empty flights in the winter, we would fly the coast at 500 feet and just sight see, it was pretty unbelievable. Also a great company to work for, Dan Wolf really cared and took care of his employees.

When I did this same exact route with CapeAir ~5-6 years ago or so, there was only one pilot and another passenger sat in the co-pilot seat. At the time, I wondered what would happen if our pilot had a medical situation. Other than that it was a lovely flight, but I'm glad to see two pilots on this one.

About 12 years ago I flew a Cape Air 402 from Key West to Fort Myers. The pilot was a dead ringer for Foster Brooks, the comedian who always played a drunk. We came out and dropped our luggage so they could put it in the nacelles. The pilot looked us over and pointed to two people: "You two, row behind the pilot's seat. Now you two, behind them..." He was doing weight and balance by eye!" On the way we cruised VFR at 3500ft and it was stunningly beautiful. We landed without incident at Ft. Myers and pulled up to the "gate." Foster Brooks shut down the engines and shouted, "WE MADE IT!!" The best airline experience of my life.

I've flown Cape Air Logan to Martha's Vineyard back in the late '70s/early '80s? Single pilot...maybe a 310? Can't remember the name of the airline but have also flown to/from Nantucket, once in an Otter and once in a DC-3. At age 16 I was a "line-boy" at Oak Bluff's grass strip...no longer in service. Got to ride in a fish-spotter T-6 and took my first lessons there in a J-3. Could only afford 15 minutes of logged-time per lesson LOL.

What a way to fly as a passenger look over the shoulders of the pilots. That FO is quite a tall guy for this small plane. How special those parkings pots a Boston Logan airport between the stands for the big planes. However taking of just behind a bigger jet can pose some dangers regarding the wake turbulence. Btw there was a blind passenger on that window :)
@rapman57912 ай бұрын
A wasp inside an aircraft cabin (especially a small plane) is a dangerous thing. Either of the pilots could be allergic to bee stings and if they don’t have an epi pen with them it could lead to catastrophic damage if the pilot has an allergic reaction. 🐝 Also, some passengers are deathly afraid of flying critters (my grandmother particularly), and at the first sight of one of those flying insects will actually freak out. I’ve seen her knock over tables and smash through doors just trying to get away from a bee. You don’t want her alone in a small plane and a bee anywhere around her, the panic could cause her to interfere with the safe operation of the plane. And I know for a fact she is not the only person like that. I’ve seen young people react the same way. 🤷♂️

And-----that is the scary part. 1600 hrs total time and if the pilots went to flight school in AZ---they've never flown IFR other than simulated. I have friends that flew into Hyannis and the islands in Beech 18'using the NDB and stop watches. PBA seemed to have older pilots===albeit that was 30 years ago and they had DC-3's and Martin 404's. The well to draw pilots from is very dry.

What’s up with the pilots obsession with opening the window. This guy is not even off the runway and he’s popping it open. Also, no safety briefing in case of an emergency. 🚩
@gunterchain2 ай бұрын
That's how you keep the cabin cool on the ground. No AC, so when they are on the ground it gets unbearably hot during the summer. In the air you have vents that allow cool air in.
@danielkenber98232 ай бұрын
I flew a similar plane and we always opened the windows on the rollout. Not altogether abnormal nor unsafe. I’m sure the briefing occurred prior to boarding or the beginning of filming. Nice job. By these pilots.
@carmelocali50742 ай бұрын
Also, on these very small planes, the emergency briefing is done as you board dude… just like your luggage being put in the cargo load as you walk into the plane! You are talking 5 to 10 pax, vs 400 something. 🤦🏻♂️ Also, not much to say… they don’t fly high enough for oxygen to be needed and if they have to ditch in the ocean, they do have life vests…. Other than that, open the ONE door available and get the hell out of the airplane if you can….🎉 Suggest you do a minimum research before posting.
@ambientcoot87152 ай бұрын
I work for this company, this is normal and completely safe to do. Safety briefing is done after boarding before engine start. As long as the pilot doesnt open the crew door or the small windows in flight then there isnt an issue… These planes are also practically bullet proof and maintenance doest a great job at ensuring they are airworthy. Your safe flying with them!

@iworkout69122 ай бұрын
I won't worry very much. Your quite safe. I'm a pilot and the plane may at time bounce around a lot, but its built for rough flying at times. Orville and Wilbur weren't as lucky, but they survived, (flying that is). Wilbur died of typhoid fever in 1912.
