+Black Lightning ⚡ One of my favorite things about Spider-Man is that even though he's not physically tough (he heals faster than normal, but he's as fragile as Tony Stark), he can hold his own in a fight with the biggest, baddest baddies. And we got to really see that in this movie, perhaps better than any other movie we've seen.
@GaryKlineCA8 жыл бұрын
I didn't say he was weak, he's stronger than most of those guys on the field, and they showed that. But in the comics he never seemed that durable, not like Cap and the others. His spidey-sense usually allows him to duck/anticipate blows, so he's really hard to hit. I wish they had played that up more, but maybe that would've made him too overpowered in this fight.

As MGM was to musicals, Universal Studios to monsters etc. Marvel is to super hero movies. This is truly Marvel's cinematic golden age ( with literary silver and bronze age books). They have developed a winni g formula that we should all enjoy as like all great things it will eventually end. Let's all enjoy this remarkable level of creativity, consistency, and excellence. Hard to believe that Iron Man was almost ten years ago, they took their time, built a great brand, and put their faith in the fact that these movies appeal to nerds and non-nerds alike. Amazing really.

yeah Ross asking them about Thor and Hulk and comparing them to Weapons of Mass Destruction (which they are ABSOLUTELY capable of) was pretty damn clever
@Byorin8 жыл бұрын
It seemed like a bit of foreshadowing that Ross and SHIELD could be considering a plan to take down Hulk and Thor. Cap seeing potential in Spiderman for that brief moment was SO COMIC I almost cried
@SERPENTONORTHAM19928 жыл бұрын
Another part I love about this movie is of how Spiderman has a bit of both young Steve Rogers qualities and Tony's smartass geek talking. Spiderman is EXACTLY like this in the comics. He gets on his enemies nerves, he is simple and righteous. He is really strong and a geek too. They also didn't stop there with the parallels of him with other heroes. He stopped a car in the youtube video, something that amazes Stark (who did the same in Ironman 1) and fought Captain, then losing and lifting the big airport thingy a feat that amazes Captain (who fought Winter Soldier, then got hurt but still lifted the big metal pillar) and then they exchange info about their hometowns Queens and Brooklyn with Cap saying the kid got heart. (which is a parallel to Cap's and Erskin's talk in First Avenger) I probably exaggerate things a bit (I also don't speak the best English sorry) but I really thinκ these specific interactions where placed there on purpose by Russo brothers (who also are Spidey fans) to introduce a hero that is part of the new generation to come, after the Infinity Wars. Oooh God I love this movie!

John Doe I don’t think Zola told him but I’m sure he found out when black widow handed him the winter soldier file at the end of Winter Soldier.
@mikeg1554 жыл бұрын
Nugget91Gaming The file Widow handed Cap was a KBG file about all the stuff they did to Bucky, not his missions. That’s why Zemo has to decrypt leaked files, interrogate the guy at the beginning, and make it to Bucky to get the info. It’s been implied that Cap had a suspicion Bucky did it, but choose to not investigate because he didn’t want to find that out. That’s why he never mentioned anything to Tony.

I watched it 2 hours ago and I can say definitely without no doubt, the airport battle was one of the best fight scenes in any superhero movie. Civil War was more than a superhero movie, it was another political thriller and was directed and choreographed perfectly. The performances too were grounded as well of the introduction of the new characters. Spider man, Black Panther and Antman were the stand outs of the movie. It also has some issues but other than that I would give it a 9/10.

They've established Winter Soldier killing Howard Stark in Captain America: Winder Soldier. Arnim Zola says "Accidents Happen" and the pictures shown are Howard and Bucky. That's how Cap knows that Bucky killed Howard.
@rjq82738 жыл бұрын
I read the implication as having been that the Starks were hit by Hydra, and Steve didn't connect the dots that Bucky would have been the one to carry it out. Perhaps through sheer willful ignorance, Cap just didn't want to face the possibility, which he confesses in his letter to Tony ("I see now I was really jut sparing myself" or something to that effect). To be perfectly honest, it never sank in for me either. I watched Winter Soldier many times, never occurred to me that Bucky was the one until now.
@Blade6588 жыл бұрын
I like how people got scared of and got careful around Scarlet Witch the same way they did in the first Avengers with Bruce Banner as if they're too unstable when that's the exact environment they shouldn't be in. And how part of Team of Cap was to defend her as well, the way Tony treated Bruce like a human. It was a nice parallel.

If we're looking for a classic series to compare to, a better comparison for the Captain America trilogy would be the "Dollars trilogy" (aka The Man with No Name trilogy). All three installments are considered great examples of the genre, with each one also being regarded as better and more ambitious than the last. The first movie is a relatively straightforward genre film, the second introduces a strong friend/foe for the hero, and the third is an epic that juggles a larger cast of characters. Civil War is The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly of Comic Book Movies

Great job! I'm happy to hear Kevin defend Iron Man 2. Was it a perfect movie, NO. But it had a lot more good than bad. Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer was amazing-- his "Ex-Wife" weapons demo monologue is one of the greatest comedy scenes in all of Marvel's films. Also, I dare anyone to say they didn't geek out watching Iron Man and War Machine kicking arse at the end of the film. The mix of humor and action is perfect. It's a highly entertaining film even with some of the slow world building plots in the middle.

yea i think IM 2 and 3 get more flak then they should. werent perfect but were definitely entertaining.

I could still be nerd high, but this was the best comic book movie I've seen. Have to see it again tomorrow morning. Every character was handled properly, the plot was really well laid out, you knew why everyone chose which side, and the action omg. I thought they were going to do the shakey cam thing all movie so I was worried at first. The fight scenes were amazing and they used Black Panther so damn well, thanks Marvel and Chadwick for that, it really meant a lot to me.

When Tony and Peter had their conversation I nearly cried. It was just the feeling of completeness, the Marvel superheros TOGETHER. I swear to you Kev and Marc, if Fox comes to the table and the X-men make any kind of appearance in Infinity War, I will weep like a baby. I loved this flick for so much but that moment, where he was there with Tony, it was euphoric!

39:51 I honestly didn't think it was so surprising. During Winter Soldier when Cap is talking to Zola, he shows a picture of Howard Stark and says something like "sacrifices had to be made" stating Hydra killed Howard Stark. And in every shot they showed the Winter soldier killing someone in flashes. It seemed like a easy connection to jump to that Bucky was ordered to take him out. I also think he killed Kennedy apparently lol
@graymyers8 жыл бұрын
Well ya. Super soldier syrum is from Howard Stark. And those packs were the Stark Industries blue. If you thought about it you could've figured it out, I didn't, but retrospectively it was obvious

+nytolstoy They clearly show that Bucky killed Howard in Winter Soldier. Zola says "Accidents Happen" and the picture on the screen are Howard and Bucky,

Grayson Myers Well actually no, the super serum was made from another scientist, a German one, Stark used his machines to make enough power to use the serum. I'm guessing over the next 40 years or so, Howard Stark was able to almost duplicate it.

I'm happy that this didn't follow the comic story. The comic vilified Iron Man. Tony Stark was the main villian of Civil War. The movie, however, makes you actually feel for both sides. The comic attempted to make you understand both sides and at the beginning kinda succeeds, but the longer it went on Tony just made more and more villain type decisions. The movie does a wonderful job of making you actually care for not only both sides of the issue but each and every character individually.

I didn't the ending coming either other than when they were going to Siberia and I remembered the trailer with Cap and Bucky fighting Iron Man. That's when I started to think something was up but even still I didn't see it coming until the flash back. I totally agree with you in that I was on Cap's side until the big reveal. Suddenly I was feeling it for Stark. Dudes, I loved Iron Man 2 more than Iron Man. I agree with you. Mickey Rourke going nuts with a bad Russian accent is gold, man.

+Sean “DragonStryk72” McTiernan yeah who gives a shit about the comic version, this is a separate universe and if they did it exactly the same then we would know everything going in plus they couldn't physically do that comics version due to rights, and characters not being introduce so who cares it is one of the best superhero and just action movies to date

+Irongolem101 well, moreover, they botched balance, and Tony went straight down the Super villain tree, and hit most of the branches on the way down.
@KouD3Graw8 жыл бұрын
+Sean “DragonStryk72” McTiernan Yea the comics would bring of the same points over and over and over and over. It's like "We get it" but, it wasn't a great balance between the two sides. Like I could understand Caps side way more than Tony's. It was a great idea but, it was a huge event in the comics. Stretched thin as fuck. This movie compacted and used what it needed along with working with how the MCU is now. I was wondering if people that seen the movie were greatly tight lipped on Caps death but, it didn't end that way at all. After seeing the movie I'm glad it didn't follow the comics closely. The brothers handled this story, movie, and turning point in the MCU better than I've EVER would have thought.
@BarbaPamino8 жыл бұрын
I doubt most people complaining actually read the comic, just complaining to lash back at people that justifiably complain about what DC is doing when they change the comic. The two differences is when Marvel has changed the stories it's usually for the better where as DC has done it for the worse, and despite changing aspects Marvel keeps the essence of the characters strong in their films where as DC has changed huge aspects of who there characters are. And the problem with that is that the DC characters are in essence already do good and no need to change them.

I really love the emphasis on emotion in this movie, and particularly the close bond between two people. We had it with Cap and Bucky of course, but it was also there were Tony and Rhodey, and Natasha and Clint, and T'Challa and his father, and Scarlet Witch and Vision. The movie does a lot of work to bring these relationships to the forefront and hinge the plot off them. The whole movie is basically people acting logically in response to heavy emotions. Bad things happen that make people feel like shit and they try to make that better. Some characters seek revenge, others seek to just rectify perceived wrongs, and Cap just wants to hold onto his friend who (with Peggy dead) is his only link to his old life. Tony's immediate motivator in this movie is the emotional reaction to finding out he indirectly led to the death of a good and innocent person, whereas in the book he supported the registration act out of cold futurist logic. Everyone reacts how you'd expect them to, everybody acts logically and it all fucking works.

Only disagreement I have is I believe Zemo HAD to know that Bucky killed the Starks BEFORE he embarked on his revenge plot. His entire plan hung on that detail being exposed to Tony. All he needed was the proof to unveil.

Even though i was kind of rooting for Stark, I loved how Cap delivers the same line to Stark during their final fight that he delivered pre-super sokdier in the alleyway in his first movie: "I could do this all day", before Bucky bails him out again.

Funny how the soldier is the one that doesn't want to work for the government and the private industrialist that didn't want to hand his technology over to the government like three movies ago, is the one that does want to be a government lap dog. You believe it because the movie is just so damn good and with the events of previous movies, those character arcs seem like a logical progression despite how much it goes against each character's backgrounds.
