Captain America: First Avenger officially turns 10 today!!! My sister Cara saw it with me I was so afraid they were gonna mess it up but thankfully Joe Johnston erased the bad taste of that 1990s film and found a way to have him work with the Avengers in modern times Funny how Chris Evans switched from Fantastic Four to Steve Rogers, he made the role his own after turning it down twice Love Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter being the one true love he never had after being frozen in the ice for 70 years Stanley Tucci is likable as Dr. Erskine and it's heartbreaking watching him fall after picking Steve for the super soldier project for his morality and true commitment to patriotism and doing the right thing , they actually gave him more heart than what the comics did next to disillusionment, distrust of large institutions but with authority as well as compassion Hugo Weaving was good as Red Skull even though the actor publicly stated he hated the makeup prosthetics Sebastian Stan made a great impression as Bucky Barnes later becoming Winter Soldier Dad loved the old swashbuckler feel as well as it being a period piece Didn't make the high box office numbers but thankfully paved the way for future MCU films and I'm happy they ended his story on a high-note in Avengers: Endgame Happy too Falcon & Winter Soldier Disney + series dealt with the legacy Captain America left behind once Evans was done Still a terrific origin story full of pulpy action, retro vibe, and fine performances without feeling too silly while also portraying American patriotism, war propaganda, media, culture, and taking out bullies Fighting for the little guy while holding the big bad guy at bay

Actually Cyrus is wrong and right here. They did put Evans head on someone elses body at one point in the movie. The person that actually played the young Steve Rogers was serving Beer when Steve bought everyone a round.

It’s kinda fascinating hearing them talk about the possible death of the superhero genre, considering where we would be 10 years later

Cyrus spending 90% of the review praising it and then saying He can't quite give it a Full Price irks me a bit as does any time i read, see or hear someone reviewing something and praising it most of the review only to give it a middling or low score at the end...most of the spill crew did something similar on the review for Flight...this is a high full price for me and still in my top 5 MCU movies

Me too man Jumanji is a classic...then again it was 10 when the movie came out so I'm sure me being a kid at the time factors into my love for it but i think I'd love it even if i didn't come up on it
