It's an option, but with bluetooth or wireless you don't have the automatic reversing camera when you put it in reverse gear. You'd have to press a button every time to activate the camera

@4:43 10-11volts is actually normal, this was what I got with mine and I had a new battery on, so nothing wrong with your battery nor do you need to change it either. Because you haven't started the engine, which means your alternator isn't running, so if it does, the voltage would be 12-14 volts as the alternator would be driving all your lights, your android head unit and of course, your reverse camera as well plus recharging your battery all at the same time and it needs a slightly higher voltage to do all that

@johnmonk3381 Is it normal that the reverse wire has power (around 3.7v) when the ignition is on, but the gear is NOT on reverse? My dashcam was working fine until recently, it stays on reverse mode even when driving forward. When I switch the key to ACC, dashcam then works fine.

@@marlonmadrona1309 hello. I don't think that's normal. Without reverse gear engaged, the voltage should be close to zero. I think I measured that before, it was like 0.02 something like that. Mine's a 2005 toyota camry, not sure about your vehicle. You may have an electrical leakage somewhere, something is causing 12volts to leak onto your reverse gear live wire in unengaged mode

Hi, great videos btw.. surely they could have added the "reverse parking lines function" to the reverse camera on the w903 software as oppose to wiring into the car reverse light cable etc All the hassle to wire it up,. it would just be just a click on the screen when in reverse easy enough and saves dismantling your boot as the camera cable could be routed a lot easier.

Hi i have a old minivan 2002 pontiac montana. I cant get my new rimoody mp5 to work with reverse camera. I did use a scosche wireing kit. At first nothing worked until i ran my own 12v ignition wire to fuse box. Also steering wheel controlls do not work. After dealing with these issues im thinking the old van is not putting out a signal for backup wire im gonna get a circut tester so i can figure this out.

Where did you connect the red wire that is in the screen side ?

Sorry I'm not sure I understand the question - one end of the red wire connects to the reversing light wire, the other feeds into the wiring for the jack that goes into the screen, so you only have to deal with one end of the red wire

You didn't use the ground wire?

No, there's not ground wire on this set up. Plugging the AUX cable into the dashboard console grounds it and completes the circuit. If yours had a ground wire, just attach it to a bare metal bolt 🙂

Not entirely sure, but quite possibly. You could find and test the reversing light wire when in reverse before committing to the rest of the work. Might be worth researching it a bit more

Rear taillights on, brake light on. Test for the wire with no power.
