My father taught me to make pancakes. His favorite breakfast for Sunday mornings. When you make your pancakes and you flip them over for the first time do not take your spatula and smash them down. You want to keep them light and fluffy. When you smash them, the middle gets a weird texture. Don’t smash them down, give it a try. PS just another little tip. You will know when it’s time to flip them for the first time is when you stop seeing the bubbles 🥞

Great video! Having just turned 70 years old, this is something I have always wanted to do. I don’t see me doing this on a permanent basis, but I would love to set up my 2012 Jeep Patriot for traveling to see my family members who live out of state! Would save a ton of money not having to do the motel thing! Thanks for sharing your setup! You gave me a ton of useful ideas and info that will help me set my Patriot up! God bless and safe travels for you and Sam!

This is how I did it, keep it simple. I did this for 8 months during the summer of 2016; one of the best years of my life I think. It was a little lonely, it would be nice to try to meet like minded people to travel with eventually. I plan on doing something like this somewhat full time eventually.

Just got a Patriot myself. Been viewing van camping channels for months but now that I got the Jeep (Jeep fam for decades tho!) looking for folks who are doing this with Jeeps to get ideas. I’m bummed though to see that Jeep changed their Patriot seats! My Patriot’s seat cannot lay flat forward like that. It can lay flat backwards but then I cannot fold my backseat forward and no leg room 😂🤦🏽♀️ So, love getting ideas from everyone though!

I love your setup!! Thanks for showing us how Sam fits in your routine. Some original this you have share are: 1) Suction storage items-very clever! 2) Thank you for being a role model for how to leave a place even better than you found it. QUESTION: Does your pup ever bark at night when you are trying to be stealth?
@TravTravels2 жыл бұрын
Thankfully he’s very quiet. I got lucky with him. He’ll only bark when he’s really excited to be somewhere then I leave him in the van 😅

I like your set-up! Thanks for sharing it. I had converted my 2002 Jeep Liberty for camping, my Jamper. For more vertical storage in the back, I used 2 shelves and their legs from a black plastic 5-shelf unit I bought at Walmart. You can saw the legs to a custom height easily with a handsaw and put carriage bolts through the legs into the tie-down points. We still had room to stretch out, because we put our feet under the bottom shelf. Bottom shelf was a great height for laptop for working too. I was so bummed when the Patriot did not have the length or headroom of the Liberty. So, I went with a Subaru Outback for camping now, my Camparu. Safe travels! (May I suggest a first aid kit, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher?)

So happy to see someone using the Patriot for this. Hoping to do some overlanding with mine this winter. One Patriot owner to another, be sure to have the CVT Transmission fluid and filter changed every 30,000 miles. The owners manual calls for longer intervals, but they won’t last long with long intervals between service. Also, watch the rust on the subframes both front and rear. Keep it up man, great setup!!

Thanks man just picked up the same jeep. Excited to get some adventures in. Any tips and tricks for showering and doing laundry?
@TravTravels3 ай бұрын
Congrats! It’s a great vehicle . For laundry, I’d say just find a nice laundromat in the area you’re near. I always read the reviews on google maps. And for showers I have a planet fitness membership for about $20/month which is good nationwide. I also look up state parks with showers, aquatic centers or truck stops if there aren’t any planet fitness’ around. ioverlander is my app of choice to find what’s around :)

Cool video! I was thinking of selling a 2017 Jeep Patriot Sport (Grey), but I noticed the resale value was quite low. This thing only has about 50k miles and was driven only in FL. No snow or salt exposed to the body. Seems the value was under 10k, so might just keep it now and do something similar for a portable buggy and have solar throughout. Great camping vehicles. Jeep was always top.
