I have the spots too the way I figured it out was self tanner and when it was still lighter I asked a dermatologist and it is a lack of pigmentation in your skin so now if I am worried I just put pigmented cc cream on and power. Hope it helps.

From a fla girl, the white spots are a form a fungus from the sun. Apply medicated Selsun blue shampoo directly to white spots daily and it will go away, lol hope this helps!

There are several skin conditions that can look like this. However, Tinea Versicolor is the most likely diagnosis. I have the same condition myself. It is caused by a yeast that is normal skin flora in humans similar to dandruff, meaning it can recur over and over, but treatments for this are easy. Oral Diflucan (Fluconozole 200 mg, one QD x 5 days) or topical Cilopirox cream 2 times a day for 6 weeks. This is a sweat and sun loving yeast, so this most often occurs during the warmer months and in warmer climes.

A friend worked for a cruise line and said they only take you to the shopping area of the island you visit they get some kind of kickback. Looks like a pretty place, but too bad your drink in a pineapple wasn't a pineapple crush, I had one of those and it was divine, made with lots of rum and god knows what else. I have these white spots as well as a fair skinned gal, it’s likely Vitiligo is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. So glad you’re enjoying vacay and Peter is having a wonderful birthday!

@TheJoelWood. my son has that skin condition, It's called tinea versicolor, a yeasty fungus effecting the torso and arms that happens from sweating a lot or being in hot, humid climates. Easily clears up with oral anti-fungals and cream.

So glad you had a good stop in DR. I was there on a cruise in the 80’s and we did some excursion, I don’t remember where, but there were kids trying to sell things and they were very very aggressive. It turned me off so bad I don’t ever want to go there again. Looks like they cleaned that up so you had a good time of it..thank goodness. Too bad the drink wasn’t quite what you were hoping for. Looks like it was nice weather and I just loved that beach! Thanks for taking us along again.

Out of curiosity, did you have any difficulties on the ship/land trips for being gay? The Dominican does not have a good rating by gay travel companies etc. And now some of the Caribbean Islands etc. have strict rules in what clothing you are not allowed to wear such as camouflage/army tops, shorts, pants.

Hey Joel! The cruise ‘ship’ is actually a boat. Ships are Naval. The French Champagne Moët & Chandon is pronounced Moët with the hard T because that part of the name is Dutch. I believe he was a Dutch monk in the Monastery where they first produced the méthode champanoise sparkling wine, we today call Champagne.

Best lobster I’ve had was in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbour Maine. We travelled to Canada’s east coast this summer and hoped to eat our weight in lobster but it is so expensive we only had it once. Enjoying your vlogs as usual.

I have eaten hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of lobsters also went to many all you can eat lobster buffets. We used to go to Maine all the time back in the 1980s to the Lobster docks and we used to get lobster for $2.99 a pound. They would bring them right off the lobster boats and steam them right there and give you melted butter and lemon and one time we got 5 lb lobsters for $20

FYI : JOEL just so you know where you actually are - Cuba is the large island directly south when leaving Miami. Haiti & the Dominican Republic are east of Cuba. Haiti is the western half of this next island & DR is the eastern half. South is Jamaica and further east is Puerto Rico, a US protectorate. You will now head northeast to the Bahama Islands which are directly east of Miami. I agree with others that your vlog is a great introduction to this Virgin cruise ship. Don’t worry too much about rough seas - I’ve been on rough seas on the Irish Ferries Ulysses Cruise ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and the larger the ship, the safer you are - it’s always better to get a cabin as close as possible to the centre of gravity, low down, so that movement does not affect you too much

People with tinea versicolor develop white, yellow, red, pink or brown spots. It's caused by an overgrowth of a type of yeast (fungus) that's naturally found on your skin. Hot weather, humidity and sun exposure can make tinea versicolor worse.

I know it won't but your ship, from afar, looks top heavy like if a big wind or wave came up it would topple over....yikes! Taking off, I believe, refers to being on a plane and "taking off" into the heavens!!!!!! I loved eating on the cruises I took especially on the steak and lobster night, one cruise even had caviar and was delicious! On some of the cruises desserts were gelatin based and very disappointing and I remember many of the passengers made it known to the crew that that was wrong, either make it right or don't serve it at all! That was years ago and I am sure they have corrected that problem. Thanks for the memories!

Joel those white spots: I have a friend who has them and they found out it was a skin fungus and a dermatologist can help get rid of them. Champaign cocktails gives you sea legs so it's easier to walk on the ship.

The best gay resorts on the east coast of the United States are Fort Lauderdale and Key West and Fire Island, and Miami, and Provincetown what the gay men call p-town. Now you know where to go. Dominican Republic is not gay friendly and not a gay resort.

Did those spots just come out on the trip or over time? A friend of mine had spots like that and it turned out to be vitiligo. Her skin was much darker than yours so more noticeable. Not saying this is what it is but it does look similar.

I don't know why this Cruise stopped at the Dominican Republic this is a third world Island and not one of the better Caribbean countries. It's a very dangerous country and mostly all the towns are a disaster and really the only nice area that I know of is Punta Canta with the four and five star resorts. I can't believe they charged you $11 for that pineapple drink when the average person in Dominican Republic makes $6 a day. When we would go to our Resort they would tell us not to go outside of the resort because it was very dangerous and you could get sick from the food and water because of the high bacteria content. This cruise line should have taken you to one of the better Caribbean islands like St Thomas or St Lucia or the American Virgin Islands or the British Virgin Islands or the Bahamas or Bermuda or Aruba.

That skin condition you have looks like it may be psoriasis cuz I have the same thing I've had it for many years it would be a good idea to see a specialist to make sure if it is to take care of it before it gets worse right now I treated with tea tree oil seems to really help a lot
