Car falls into sinkhole as street collapses in Southwest Detroit

A water main leak led a street to collapse Thursday in Southwest Detroit, nearly swallowing up a car.

You say the city has water main that is 120 years old.... Older than any living man or woman today? I could only speculate that the sewer and storm drains are just as old. This is an example of my past comments about wasted funds and efforts. We celebrate mediocrity at every turn, uplift those who are already at a higher standing than ourselves and all the while, our infrastructure, our community, and our very own lives crumble around us as we strive every week to make it to the next. I think it's time to remember what core values actually are and drop the ego and vanity. There have been great strides in improving the surface of the city but that's just plastic surgery. It doesn't cure the ailing infrastructure.🙏🏿👍🏿✌🏿

I moved to Detroit in 1993 to take care of my father after a stroke and heart attack, grandriver road was so bad it took my suspension out inside of a year. I'm back in Tennessee now and can say without hesitation that Detroit has the worst roads in the country, absolutely ridiculous.

​I-75 was somebody's office from 2002-2022. Twenty years they put orange barrells on that highway because they intentionally used cheap materials. They're finally, after decades of union corruption and graft, getting the work done.
