I've been using a pair of old 15" Rockfords for home theater subs for years. They're each in a sealed 4 cu/ft box and have no problem dropping into the 20 hz range. I power them with an old Peavey 8.5C commercial amp that I got for $150 cad. It's good for 425w/ch at 4 ohm.

Ahhhh nice nice. I have a 12 and 2 15 inch subwoofers. 12 is on 1000 watts and I plan on getting a 6000 watt amp for the 15s, as the amp I had was not powerful enough and was clipping them. So I use it on another subwoofer and as soon as I have the money I'm getting a 6000 watt amp for the 15s lol. Wayyy overkill but I want to barely have to turn the amps up to have the subs moving so it sounds clean and I have lots of head room for lows, but that's just my preference. Anyways, great set up, keep up the good work!

Yo Stone Man... I have a Question, just looking at car audio subs and the materials they use to make them makes me love it... Have you once thought about what it would sound like as a Pro audio system? Like normal PA speakers would use a 18 inch to play that kind of bass and still would not be as powerful - What about Adding Car Audio Subs to PA system playing Outdoors? ;P
@MyStonerMind4206 жыл бұрын
you know, I've never thought about that. Sounds like a good idea too, but I'm not really familiar with PA gear.

I am quite fond of them and i must say i've come to really like car audio subwoofers more... i can't say that i'll do a video, but i will do a test and tell you all about the results... I'm thinking going with 12 inches and 15 inches with some kind of power mixer and then add some real instruments like a keyboard and a bass guitar to listen in on that combination, this might somehow really make a difference one day and we car audio subwoofer fans will finally understand there are more than two ways to use them... really nice video upload bro, you inspire me to try out something new! Keep on enjoying that lovely sub...

Quick question, can I know the type of amp you used ?
@jessever36554 жыл бұрын
Hey man, just a quick question. I am about to buy a home theatre receiver and a 5.0 speaker set from jamo. I have a car amplifier and a car sub. Amp gives 3500rms and my sub is also the ascendant audio mayhem 18inch. I obviously would like to use the sub and amp for my home receiver. I have 4 x pc power supplies that deliver 12v each and 60 amps each so 240 amps in total, making the power supply for the amp plenty. On the home receiver there are 2x sub pre outs in the back. Do i just connect the 1 sub pre out to my amps line in? Or is there more to it? Been reading to much online and now im quite confused about it all. Some people say i need a high end receiver to be able to do that, some people say i need the balanced and unbalanced converter with cables, etc. So im a bit stuck. The receiver is onkyo tx-nr575e. In the manual it says the sub pre outs are for powered subwoofers.... anyway. Just really appreciate a short clear answer if it will just work and hook up as i had mentioned. Cheers.
@MyStonerMind4204 жыл бұрын
yeah dude just connect it to the receiver via the pre-outs, it should work fine. The pre-outs are for a powered sub, meaning they don't just connect straight to the subwoofers coil, the subwoofer should be 'powered' by an amp, and that's what yours would be, as is mine.

@@shotbyrallo2566 I am trying the same, they both combined can take a 1000watt rms right? How does they sound? How low they get? Box design?
@shotbyrallo25663 жыл бұрын
@@sunitadhyani1013 I believe combined they do 1080 RMS which isn’t incredible but they are good bang for buck value IMO. I plan on having a dual woofer front left, front right, rear left, and rear right so over 4000 watts RMS spread throughout the room. There are much better subs out there for DIY building that give incredible performance per dollar but they are out of my price range especially if I want multiple subs. I haven’t finished building them yet so they’re still just sitting in their boxes. COVID, PS5 on day one, and a new baby, amongst other things has left me a bit distracted.

not sure of what you're asking, but if you want to wire at a higher impedance such as 8ohms rather than 4, you should wire in series. The way I wired is parallel, that brings impedance down, (to 1ohm in my case). Hope that helped :)

My Stoner Mind so can i use a sub with 1500 rms with this amp
@MyStonerMind4207 жыл бұрын
yes totally. Obviously you'll want to be careful about giving it too much volume, but keep in mind that giving a lot of volume to a speaker with a less powerful amp can send an "unclean" signal to the speaker (clipping etc) which can potentially damage a sub. Whereas doing the same with a more powerful amp, is less likely to do damage due to the signal being cleaner.
