@@Mayson568 We tend to have larger engines than many places in the world. My wife has the Lexus (GX460) version of the Prado and has about the same acceleration as the Tank 500. It just doesn't have to work very hard to do it (detuned 4.6L v8). Our Wrangler sounds like it is going to explode when you get on the throttle very hard.

@@rich7447in Russia we’ve got several cars, that has a problem with a v6. And also on sale only 5 seats at a v6 version. That’s why I chose a 2.0.

I would be nice if journalists would use the METRIC measurement system Australia adopted in 1974 and stop using the Imperial measurement system when describing size like height! After all, it's been more than 50 years now!!!
@Drivecomau5 ай бұрын
The great thing about Aussies is, we're adaptable - and while we've been using the metric system for some time now, we're pretty good at both casually describing our height in feet and inches, as well as being able to convert that into scale that's easy to picture. 😉

Another thing is when we can expect the 400 and 700 in Australia? 900? Forget about it mate.

Was thinking of buying Tank 500 or the new GWM ute coming with V6 3.0L but won't even go to look at one if only hybrid available. Too underpowered with tiny 2.0L and not great towing capacity. For a vehicle this size a 2.0 litre just doesn't cut it. Better off paying more for a Ranger with much bigger engine, considerably more power and 3.5T towing capacity. Or even the new Triton with much more power and also 3.5T towing capacity for not that much more and you are buying vehicle with great reputation and re-sale value.

Seriously? This does 0-100 in under 7 seconds? What you want it to perform like Golf R or something?
Why would I or the many others who don't tow or tow less than 3t need 3.5t capacity? Please explain.

Nowadays if someone still pay more than 100k to buy a Toyota that u can get a better car either tank or patrol for less money, they are stupid.

In the real life, V8 landcruiser are still the king, you just can’t disagree! Most people driving a Tank 300 or 500 are not really a 4*4 person, they are either a 50 years old Chinese lady who don’t even have a license; or some “professional car dudes” that trying to promote you the parts they’re selling😂.

I seriously loved this car until I read and now heard how fuel inefficient this thing is. 13L/100kms lol! A bit far off 8.5L/100! Nice marketing GWM!

My Prado is 15 years old, has 180,000k on the clock and is still like a new car. So far, it has been batteries, tyres and a set of brake pads. I wonder what a Tank will be like in 15 years?

Seeing as they already made with better quality steel and more advanced design and engineering goes than an old prado I see them lasting a lot longer

They need to draw a line in the sand with driver assistance tech. All manufacturers do, fark chasing 5 stars from ANCAP if it requires the intervention styled tech I’m interested in the Tank500 ute version if it comes out in Aus with the V6 twin turbo- BUT not if it’s got that driver fatigue, lane keeping, auto stop start sort of rubbish permanently switched on
