I get your point. But I stopped testing with the first 4 because the traction systems were crappy, and I could feel it from the driver's seat: They weren't going to go up unless I absolutely bounced them up the hill, flogged the track, broke a CV, munched a side step. Last four could do it, because of the better traction systems. it's also worth pointing out the testing we filmed was only about 30 percent of overall testing on that hill. We unfortunately can't film every minute of testing while out there. Sam

Also, the first few people tend to make it up easier than those in the rear because the track is torn up. You would be surprised how many people don’t have a lot of confidence in 4wd driving. Regardless, this is a lot of money to pay for a lot of cars that struggled. I don’t see the point of paying 60 grand without accessories for a car that may or may not make it up the hill. You nailed it buddy - my thoughts as well - triton seems to kill the others - they just dont have to blow their horn about it - not to mention that other than the amarok the trition is the only 4x4 with "TRUE" 4x4 drive train all the others are rear wheel drive only with a diff locker.

@Glenno73 жыл бұрын
@@tpv59 Ok, the Amarok is a full time all wheel drive, meaning it drives all 4 wheels at the same time always, and you can't turn it off. The top two models of the Triton have the ability to switch on (alternate) between 2WD and 4WD and also they have a rear diff locker that you can engage in high or low range. Hilux/Ranger/BT50/Navara/Great wall/Isuzu/LDV/Colorado etc do not have 4WD systems, they are only 2WD (rear wheel) that can engage a diff locker that will make all 4 wheel spin at the same time to get you out of a sticky spot but you must disengage it straight away or you will do damage to the drivetrain especially if you try to steer the car on a high traction surface. So IMO, if you are going to spend that much money on a so called 4x4 you would at least want to know that is is a "real" 4x4. To me this test (the hill climb part) was about which company gives you the widest and grapiest tyres - as most serious 4x4'ers will put bigger wider grippier tyres on anyway. If you check out other tests on KZbin where they use the same tyres on all the vehicles, you will see a much different outcome. For your interest, check out this KZbin kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpWUk4Cmaq2bZ6s @ 2:22 they say that they used the same tyres on all vehicles, and if you don't want to watch the whole thing skip ahead to 30:50 for results. When the Hilux is in middle of rut climb you changing camera views to the other side just as it slows down in the rut and then next camera view is on the same side but he is out. Just keep it there so we can see the how it does it to get out of that rut. You changing views just when it shoudnt be changed.

Weird how a 37k ute can match the 57k utes. Shows how much we're getting ripped off by the main ute makers.

"I don't want to damage the track" Why go up so slowly then? Momentum is everything! No tyre deflation Number 1 reason tracks get F&^%$#@ up.

Totally agree with the majority of reviews, the first 3 Ute's were driven completely different than the rest. You cannot tell me that the GWM performs better than triton, dmax, bt50.
@terrygrant23002 жыл бұрын
Have you driven one? Do yourself a favour and go down to the dealership and take one for a test drive. Will definitely make you think twice about paying an extra 30k on a ranger/dmax. Also the accelerator isn’t that touchy, I’d say he was punching it cause he hadn’t figured out how to work the delay.

As a happy owner of a Bi turbo Ranger I think these results are perfect. If I was more into my aggressive off-roading then the Hilux is the no brainer in my opinion. The Ranger is a better all rounder for my needs. I would have hoped the little Triton did better.

Only got to watch this now and agree with the many comments on momentum. Also, no comments on tyre pressure? Surely not factory pressures, for a course that is clearly not paved? Then finally, with the greatest of respect, traction control was never designed with anything but the lack of wheel articulation in mind. Most vehicles will go into "limp mode" or overheat with consistent use of their "traction control". That was not sand, but "traction control" in sand is going to get you well dug in, as most "systems" will deny power, as well as brake the spinning wheels. Not all spinning is undesirable, but that's what the diff locks are for, which brings me back to the driving. It would be uncharitable to say that the tester was "getting the hang of it" as he went along, but sensible momentum, whilst trying not to destroy the vehicle and environment in the process, is always a good thing. Get's you to the cooler (chilley?) box sooner too ....

Test driving the little 4 pot ranger I still prefer the 3.2l 5cyl any day of the week. I know on paper it doesn't have the same power as the twin turbo but it just feels like it has so much more grunt at low RPM. Literally indeling around town at about 1600 - 1800 RPM. Perhaps it's the gearbox? Don't know but it just feels so much nicer to drive. Not to mention engine acoustics. The 5 cyl has a really nice engine sound to it while the 4 pot has that tipical buzzy and boring 4 cyl sound. Hope the rumors about that 3.5l V6 Diesel in a future Hilux GR will happen. That a actually sounds really exciting

Quick question. Why always say that the lack of a low range transfer case is a serious compromise off road for the WV Amarok, but there's no 4x4 test in any review where this ute doesn't perform incredibly. There's always the excuse, of an hypothetical scenario that nobody seems to proof

@@Twilight-cl3zc I wasn’t so much making a quality comparison, but rather a popularity comparison. It’s the second most purchased vehicle (of any kind/shape) in Australia. Most buyers of anything, let alone a ute, will consider a Ranger.

Very good test. It's the Nissan that caught my attention. The New Navara has coil springs at the back that contributes to a very smooth ride. Driving the Navara is a good experience, but it's under powered for its size and its got a dead spot between 115 km/h and 140 km/h in the automatic and that's an issue because that is the speed range that's used for highway overtaking. Nissan should have upped the engin power and fine tuned the auto box. It could have done with a slightly lower 1st gear to eliminate turbo lag. Sound damping and ride quiality is very good, but Nissan missed the boat with keeping the top line engine at 140 kW and 450 NM. The cabin also looks outdated compared to the competitors, the auto gear shift looks very dated and the steering does not have the same adjustment as the competitors. But its biggest downfall is the underpowered engine, its not just about the power figures, its the way it uses the power, in a test it was even beaten by the Chinese 4x4 with a 2 liter enige and only 120 kW.

Tyre width and tread would make a lot of difference. The 245 profile vs 265 increases grip enough to change equation. Hilux looked liked it had 285s. Standard diff breathers also should count.

Were all vehicles' tyre pressures made even at the start? From a safety/vehicle control point of view - engage diff lock BEFORE you roll back, that eliminates the chance of a wheel spinning on engagement, which will wreck the splines quick smart, and allows for braking in reverse to be even and locked across the rear as you roll back. A roll back on a reverse decent is undesirable, but a given with automatic trans and torque convertor, one area where a manual transmission is superior. Auto's are fantastic at climbing, shit-house at descending, witness the VW with no low gearing.

The wisest thing that should be on every wise individuals list is to invest in different stream of income that don't depend on the government to bring money especially now the pandemic is hitting economy pretty hard . The fact is, Cryptocurrency is making financial waves and fighting against poverty in this modern era, and the question traders as them self is if this the right time to invest ? Before jumping into conclusion I think you should take a look at things first. For the past few days the price of Bitcoin has been fluctuating which means the Market is currently unstable and you can't tell if it is going bearish or bullish. While others Still continue to trade without the fear of making loss, others are been patient. It all depends on the pattern with which you trade and also the source of your signal. I would say trading has been going smoothly for me , I started with $18,000 and I have accumulated over $93,000 within 2weeks with the trading strategies given to me by Expert Blian Reinkensmeyer His method are top notch and profitable, obviously he's the best.
