It's inter-Service joking and it is normal. In fact it's healthy, but when the shit is hitting the fan and the metal is meeting the meat, it is truly one team, united.I talk shit about the Air Force, like their motto is "Why dig in when you can check in?" AF PT is a brisk, 15 minute sit, etc. But every fucking time we were in a TIC, and we called for TacAir, they were there! Every single time. And there is nothing sweeter than hearing The Hogs roll in with their BRRRRTTTT. Many of us in The Army, Marine Corps, and Navy (Special Warfare Operators) owe our lives to The Air Force. But I still talk shit about them, just as they do about us.

@@StewieGriffin1901 Man I wish Canada had the same system as american coast guards. But we don't do any law enforcement missions here unless accompanied by the RCMP, so they're unarmed (only get weapons from the RCMP before a mission and they're apparently given back). Canada's gun situation is fucking awful. But the criminals have all the guns! marvellous hahah. Might decide to go into Border services so I can be properly armed and ready for a situation to unfold. I just want a career where I can help people and do good for my country. CCG is not the way for me sadly, I might even consider getting an american visa if I'm that committed to coast guard positions. I used to sail so I love the sea.

I served 4 years in the US Navy aboard a destroyer escort during the Vietnam war. We worked with the Coast Guard doing Naval gunfire support (NGFS) off the coast of South Vietnam. Who knew the CG was doing NGFS during the war! This was in the IV Corps area of Vietnam. We used to tease them about being Puddle Pirates and Shallow water Navy, but it was all good natured. The nurse will be taken to the airport or a hotel depending on what time they are finished at the hospital. They will fly to the ship’s next destination port to return to the ship and their duties. Carnival’s Miami Operations Center will usually have their return trip figured out by the time they leave the hospital.

You would think with the budget of the department of defense they would certify at least one person on every crew to be a paramedic.
@LordOceanus
@LordOceanus 4 жыл бұрын
The coast guard is under the department of Homeland security not the DOD (during wartime it can be transferred to the department of the navy under the DOD). As such they are funded by the DHS and underfunded as a result
@hihfty
@hihfty 4 жыл бұрын
Ahhh i see, that makes more sense. Either way in these high call volume sectors where they are doing a lot of medical calls the benefit of having a higher level of care than EMT-B would be invaluable. They would definitely utilize the expanded scope.
@LordOceanus
@LordOceanus 4 жыл бұрын
@@hihfty Isolated stations such as those in Alaska have integrated coast guard corpsman who are EMT-A and in stations where they have easy access to naval installations which are all over Florida they have Navy corpsman who they can call in who are also EMT-A if the case requires it. If they know the victim needs immediate high level care they also have flight surgeons which are EMT-P or higher. The main reason they do not give everyone EMT-A certification is that they have strict state and federal requirements to keep that certification and they would not be able to take on the training needed to be a rescue swimmer and EMT-A at the same time. In most rescues they do not need that level of training but then it is needed they do not hesitate to call upon those individuals.

22:20 (paraphrasing) "Generally, we don't hear about diving accidents until it's too late. The outcomes aren't that good." "Time is of the essence." You sent a boat 30 miles to the dive boat, and probably 60 miles back to land. The diver is probably "bent" (life threatening, needs a decompression chamber). Why the hell wouldn't you send a helicopter? I can't understand why you're having "bad outcomes"!🤣

The diver incident terrified me. The bends (decompression sickness) are INFAMOUS for being fatal. I don’t know many places equipped to care for suffering patients

Most counties have at least 1 hyperbaric oxygen tank. Especially since it's been discovered they assist in wound care

The price of pot must have gone up radically since I was a sheriff’s investigator. That “bale” in my day would have been worth only about $5 K , not $50 K !!

@@zrpistv8589 why would I be joking. I'm certified in ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) a cardiac arrest and a heart attack are two different things. A heart attack is when someone has a clogged artery which goes to the heart. A cardiac arrest means the heart no longer effectively pumps blood to the rest of the body. A heart attack can lead to a cardiac arrest but having a cardiac arrest does not mean it was caused by a heart attack. Someone can have a heart attack and still be breathing vs a cardiac arrest they are essentially dead unless doctors can bring them back. Alot of people get these two confused based on what they see in movies.

That’s what I thought, because a cardiac arrest is when someone’s heart stops and you would most likely need to shock them.

Does anyone know what the smoke/steam/vapor is in the helicopter. It seems to come from the ceiling.

the Air conditioning system will actually blow ice when its really hot and humid inside the cabin. really makes for a surreal sight when you are IMC inside the cabin.
