I'm a serious runner and want to address some points. 1. He is 100% right in saying that you don't need to run to keep a healthy heart. Though I would go for daily walks (not just 3x per week) and eat healthy. 2. Any hard activity/sport damages your body. Whether it is long distance running or being a hardcore bodybuilder training heavy multiple times per week or an Olympian in any sport. However being a moderate runner who doesn't go insane, has no bad impact on health, just like careful weightlifting has no bad impact on health. Its not that you don't need cardio, it's just that you have to choose your sport, and do it carefully. Some people want to be runners (like me), others want to be bodybuilders. But its not the case that "running is bad for you". It's extreme running (and extreme anything) that is bad for you. The problem is that lots of athletes in any sport want to keep pushing the boundaries, and thus start to go crazy. That's what happens in competitions like Ironmen, the Olympics, etc. Anything at a high level is unhealthy and will cut your longevity.

I love how these guys talk about science and research. Yes, dude looks good for 50+. But let's be real...there's some juice in there. Genetics, diet, caloric-intake vs output balancing, and exercises specific to your individual body makeup is the key. There is NO one size fits all program people!!!!

"According to an American Heart Association report, sudden cardiac arrest isn't common among runners. About 0.54 per 100,000 participants in half marathons and marathons experience it." - Straight from a google search. I'm pretty sure obese people are dropping dead on the daily compared to marathon runners. Key to getting diced to the gills though is diet, cardio and sleep... oh and don't forget the Clen, DNP, T3, Anavar, Tren, Masteron, Winstrol and Diuretics.

Cardio helps with a few of the 10 aspects of fitness. Endurance requires some cardio, plus an hour trail run or 3 hour bike ride is fun.

Carlos Jones And you do?? Do you honestly believe that this guy is natty? Are you that ignorant?Talk to an endocrinologist regarding aging, and they will tell you that after 30 your muscle building hormones decline tremendously and your cortisol levels rise meaning that building muscle is difficult, at 40 your treading water and 50 your not building muscle at all and more than likely losing muscle no matter how much you train.. Now mike ohearn is bigger and more cut now than he was 20 or even 30 years ago... be level headed and you come to a conclusion.. Fanboy

100% correct, your heart is an engine, if you run 10k every day, your engine is gonna run out of gas before you get old, drive your car to work , put it in the garage, its gonna last for a loong ass time
@mr_b6513 жыл бұрын
You asked Mike, at the start of the video, “who says that” with regard to cardio. Well, experts say it. Doctors, nutrition , and most importantly heart experts say that. Your heart is a muscle, and it’s sensitive, it needs good exercise and a walk 20 mins 3x a week doesn’t do that.

“Pinnacle of the industry” because you were in magazines is like saying having your face on the side of Uhaul makes you the greatest actor of all time. Pinnacle in body building would be - at a minimum - having a Mr. O title. This is the validation required to make a such a claim. Not discounting the hard work - even on gear - but damnit man!

being more energy efficient isn't a bad thing. it sucks for fat loss, sure, but your body produces fewer free radicals (the energy 'waste' created by mitochondria) which is great for overall health.
