By coincidence I just watched Goldfinger at the weekend after buying the Blu Rays. It reminded me just how good the car looked. The cinematography of the car was stunning, and Goldfinger set up the look and feel of Bond for the next twenty odd films. Just superb, your film, Goldfinger, Connery, Bond... And meeting your friend cycling - bet he thought it was a road rage incident! Might have been if they'd loaded the guns... ;-)

This car is very special to my fathers side of the family....Odd family superstitious nonsense ahead: my father was born on Jersey, the second of his family. Grandad drove 3 wheeled Scammell lorries for British rail on the island in the 60s. Dads older brother was obsessed with the Db5 as goldfinger had just come out. Pleaded with my Grandmother for a corgi model. Alas they were quite poor and she said no. Not long later my uncle was struck by a car and the head injury resulted in a coma. Granny sat by his bed asking for him to wake up and promised him a DB5 would be there when he did. She went and got one and placed it beside his bed. Not too long after he did in the end wake up and then drove the hospital staff mad by firing the car across the ward any chance he got. I don’t think any of us amongst my cousins and I are without a corgi DB5 on the shelf just like his one, paired in my case with the Scammell 3 wheeler.
