What makes you think that the WNBA NEEDS Caitlyn Clark to grow. The FACTS are the WNBA needs one another as they have been doing. Not just one person. Let’s be real. The WNBA is still losing $50M by the end of season with not much of a profit.

Ok, Monica, you can say that “The basketball of it all is so important,” and that CC should be left off Team USA. But then you cannot ever complain about how little money WNBA players earn. It’s either a business, or it’s not. For pure basketball, anyone can go to a playground and compete for free. If you want more money in the industry for the players, announcers, commentators, etc, then you need to grow the business. Leaving CC off the team is fine from a pure basketball perspective, and a terrible decision for anyone who wants to grow the business of women’s basketball.

My first cousin played for the WMBA, so I know they aren't paid like the NBA, like my 2nd cousin-in-law, who played for the NBA. As a fan of Caitlin Clark, people want to push her into the lion's den for "their" egos, not hers. The bandwagon fans will push CC into a decline for trying to force something on her that she's not ready for. Let her be great and get off her back for self-gratification.

@serenityking9333 lisa had the audacity to ask draymond green and NBA players to pay their salaries. We can agree to disagree but viewership matters. No one cared about the wnba until this rookie class came into the league. THEY brought in their fan base. The league needs them more than they need the league. CC being a part of the Olympics would definitely help everyone get paid cause get what, bigger media coverage. Think the bigger picture. If you had CC, Reese and Brink on the Team, imagine how much ratings that would get. Not like they will play big minutes but the upside outweighs the downside. Some of those players need to step aside anyway.

@nicktolentino8250 I agree. This rookie class has brought eyes to the WNBA. I love this class! As a fan of the NBA and WNBA, I have to say the WNBA has been much more pleasurable to watch. I'm just saying they are putting too much pressure on CC. She is starting to look lazy a bit or tired; get the turnovers down a bit and work on defense. Those international players aren't going to give her a break because she's America's face of the WMBA now. Team USA WNBA has been winning the gold frequently. What would happen if they suddenly put CC on the team and they lost? See what I'm saying? If they win, it's just another win, but if they fail with CC on the team, then what? I want CC to win. If she will do it, she can do it with or without being on the Olympic team. That's just my opinion, though. I'm still rockin' with the rookies.

When bird and magic came into league(35 yrs after it was formed), franchises were losing money, ratings and attendence werent good at all. Wnba got their Bird(Clark) and Magic(Reese) moment 28ish yrs after it started. And the league(lile every league) takes time to grow and for the product to be good. Its good, a lot of casuals didnt try to come to the league much earlier, cuz the talent pool(product) wasnt as deep and good overall. And they wouldve left and hard to get them back. As the game grows and more and more girls been playing the talent pool gets greater. Its perfect timing, cuz the talent of the youngns in college and HS is taking a huge leap at this moment.

I'm a CC fan with a pretty middle-ground opinion on the Team USA thing. I can see how it was wild for her to be left off the team, and I can see how it would have been terrible for everyone (including her) if she'd been put on it. Lose-lose, in a way. But the best angle I've heard is not the 'marketing' angle everyone is copy-pasting. It came from basketball legend Nancy Lieberman. She said the merit angle is kinda fake when you look at all of the past teams and even the current team to a certain extent (🔎Arike?). The real angle, according to her, is 'keeping one eye to the future'. And I like that take. Nearly every basketball legend I have read or listened to has said that CC will go down in the books one day, given time. Plenty of WNBA players think so. She is seen as the future face of the W, the same way DT or Lisa Leslie was. Maybe even more so. Lieberman says you send Caitlin to the Olympics not to help win right now, but because she needs to see what it's about. She needs to learn from the greats, understand what right looks like. When she goes back in 4 years, 8 years-once she's reached her final form-she'll have that experience to draw from. She'll be a much better teammate and future leader on the world stage. If you think CC is a future great who will definitely be a perennial all-star and a future Team USA selection, it's a solid argument. If you think it's all hype and she's trash, then this argument won't impress you either. But I like it.

ppl keep mentioning magic and bird, who literally had each won multiple mvps and championships by then, AND the fact that that would be the last realistic opportunity to have them participate in the olympics. barring catastrophic injury, clark will have a chance in 4 years. and if she's not as hot in 4 years it'll be bc she just wasn't that good (think jimmer), so ppl can take the opportunity to focus on other players who actually are good (like arike, who's mentioned in this video). the 'losing 50 mill' thing is just business-speak. half of the nba teams claim they're losing money every year, yet they keep the team. you can't take any of those conversations seriously (plenty of businesses lose money, like uber, etc.), they're just used to defend whatever point they wanna make at that time

The idea that "The US Olympic Team is DOMINANT!" is what we said in 1988 and 2004. How did that work out? It's time to let go of American Arrogance in this discussion. The worst thing is when Carmelo Anthony is saying this, since he failed to win gold. We also need to stop assuming that Clark being on the US Women's Olympic Team would make a significant difference in marketing or revenue for the next few years. For a month, maybe. Then the Fever miss the playoffs, and we stop caring about the Olympics. The women play international basketball between WNBA seasons, Clark will get the experience before 2028. Melo: "Nobody's thinking, you've got to earn your way, ..." [5:15] Except one person has said that: CAITLIN CLARK. Right now, this is not about competition or business, this is about sports media and social media simps complaining that their Princess is not playing. The difference between Taurasi in 2004 and Clark in 2024 is that Taurasi came from a college team system which was similar to the Olympic Team system. Clark is playing The Steph Curry Way, while the Olympic Team is playing pre-Curry basketball.

The WNBA players better not EVER complain about no charter flights and low wages again. They remind me of Yassar Arafat, who never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Caitlin Clark seems to be a level headed person who would know why she would be the 12tth woman on that roster and what her role was. She would accept it because it would be in the best long term interests of women's basketball. The plain truth of the matter is that the 12 best collegiate players in the U.S. would still win the gold in Paris. The only difference is that the average winning margin per game would be 20 instead of 30.

Remember, The WNBA is played best when teams come together and when everybody is working together, you’ll definitely see better results…. So, don’t you haters and non-supporters…, try to convince us that, Caitlin Clark isn’t meeting expectations…, and to say it’s going take her some time to meet your expectations…. Again, Caitlin Clark’s fans and supporters don’t care about her struggles…. Caitlin Clark’s Balling out! The game of basketball is fielded with accomplishments and struggles…., all players know their highs & lows and in due time…, The Indiana Fever Team game will come together as long as they care about competing…. In addition, Caitlin Clark is playing among professionals within the organization. “It’s not Rocket Science!” Overall, fans and supporters…, are extremely interested in all of the exciting things…, Caitlin Clark did for college basketball as well as what we’re currently experiencing in the WNBA. For the most part, hater’s and non-supporters, want you to believe…, the USA Olympic Selection Committee; made their decision to exclude Caitlin, Clark off The USA Olympic Women’s Basketball Team 2024 on the Merits…, of Caitlin’s best interest. But on the contrary…., they could care less about Caitlin Clark best interest! All of Caitlin Clark’s fans and supporters are highly disappointed…, she’s not on the USA Olympic Women’s Basketball Team 2024 and the haters and non-supporters are in denial as well as making up excuses to justify. In fact, the USA Olympic Selection Committee is now facing a world of problems…, for not selecting Caitlin Clark to the USA Women’s Basketball Team 2024. Which problem would you rather have? But it’s Crystal Clear to most…, The USA Olympic Selection Committee; knows that nobody; honestly, including Caitlin Clark…, cares about coming off the bench! Because you’re playing with 12 Superstars Players…, that are non-egotistical and as a Team…, they’ve already committed to winning the Olympic Gold Medals…, long before being selected to the team. Here’s my solution…, to bring a high level of Respect and Support in The WNBA…, without losing the competitive nature of the game. Remember this - The USA Olympic Selection Committee, has been overlooking Superstars Players for sometime now… I’m quite sure, that there’s a world of WNBA fans and supporters that believe there’s a lot more Superstars Players…, that should’ve been selected to be on The USA Olympic Women’s Basketball Team 2024. The Solution, The WNBA will hire a Mediator to appoint a group to select from additional WNBA superstars overlooked to make- The USA Olympic Team 2…, in which they will play The USA Olympic Team 1 for the opportunity to play in The Olympic Women’s Basketball Games for 2024. “Action speaks louder than words.” “The Proof is In in the pudding.” Let’s Go for Gold Team USA - The Olympic Women’s Basketball Games of for 2024.

Everyone on both sides of the argument is talking about CC. All CC is doing is just playing basketball.

Turned out it wasn’t really merit based. The committee was not able/willing to pick the best players. WNBA all stars beat them. Also the lack of practice did not seem to hurt the all stars The fact that the wnba media “experts” did not see the problems hurt the woman media heads because it makes them look stupid. It makes them look like they are mouth pieces for the old wnba and not able/willing to embrace and recognize the new superstar talent.

Y'all know DT, Griner, nor Chelsea need to be on the team. Griner has committed international crimes that the US Govt had to bail her out of. She shouldn't be eligible to be selected to travel overseas with the national team. Chelsea hasn't played a single game this season because of injuries but she's eligible to play for the national team??? How about playing for the club paying you first. And DT has been in enough cycles. This is why the great young players can't even have an opportunity. It's trash. Y'all know it's trash. Sidenote it's ironic that CC is having a better season than Plum, but she still didn't get the nod. Honestly it benefits Caitlin to not be selected anyway. More time to train, rest, and build with her teammates, but can we stop this bogus notion that she hasn't earned a spot when plenty of players coming out of college that didn't compete in camps leading up to the Olympics have made the team out of blatant favoritism. 😂

Clarks numbers are better than Diana Taurasi who has been 5 times. She is 41 years old and ain't that player anymore.

I agree with them and I think Caitlin agrees with them. 90% of the internet on wnba is manufactured drama.

They say of Caitlin Clark ‘she’s just not there yet’… Oh she’s there. And she’s miles, even light years ahead of the others. People talk about ‘marketing’ and ‘merit’. By the numbers Caitlin Clark games get vs the numbers the others get, does that not factor into ‘merit’? The WNBA/Olympics are associations, they are not sports. They are associations made up of sport(s) but they are associations first. They are businesses first, second and then the sport is maybe a distant third. In business, it’s how many eye-balls, how many purchases, how much revenue that matters in regards to ‘merit’. The simple truth is that Caitlin Clark by ‘merit’ is light years ahead of ANY other player in WNBA history and leaving her off the team is a mistake. But it’s not a deadly mistake. They will only lose out on millions of dollars and 4 years of possibly growing the game. But that’s ok.

The fact that it’s such a big story that she’s NOT on the team is the clear reason she should be on the team. As long as she might get in the game people are going to watch and people are going to talk about it if she play or don’t play. Not because of the basketball but because the whole world will talk about the woman’s game and that’s good for everyone involved

Ain't this the participation trophy era so since she's the only Logo shooter with a huge following it wouldn't be damaging to the game 🏀

Only yhite ppl are upset that Caitlyn isn't on the team bc they feel like she's like their Eminem for the wnba. Leaving her off the Olympic team is a smart move.. Let her develop first. 20 games ain't shit. Let's see where she is in 4yrs!

If the WNBA and Olympics committee did not have an agreement to put 1 NCAA women's player on the team, then no Rookie should make the team based on NCAA achievements. The reason College players played on Dream Team and Team USA men was they have an agreement for at least 1 NCAA player to be on the team
