The 'Carmen' skirt (AKA Suit B) is finished! It was quite a quick sew but the 'make' had a bit of a jeopardy moment as I found that the fabric had a flaw all the way through it.
This of course meant that the skirt spent the night in the naughty corner while I overcame my 'fedupness' and decided whether to carry on with the sewing project ... should I scrap all three items - the skirt, top and jacket in the Carmen suit? The flaw was all the way through the fabric and I couldn't find anything similar that would colour-match with everything else at this late stage. Plus, we are now into winter fabrics here in NZ so light weight linen is difficult to find.
In the end I decided to carry on and make all 3 pieces and hope that the dye lines were not too noticeable on the finished garments. I did make some changes to the skirt both in fit, so that it fitted my shape better, and also I added more drama and swoop in the waterfall part of the faux wrap skirt.
I'm working on the Carmen wrap top at the moment and I'm quite excited about how they will look together - I'm getting a distinct 40s feel about the Carmen Miranda suit!
