Hi. Greetings from Australia. I really enjoyed this balcony tour, your collection is increasing. You have such love for your plants which shows. My collection is very happy, I bought myself a 12 x 8 hothouse for my birthday last year and my wonderful husband Ian levelled an area and erected it for me. The euphorbias, aloes and agaves especially love it. I now have good protection for those nasty hail storms we get from time to time. Kind thoughts.

@carmenwhitehead3 жыл бұрын
I water when the soil is dry and then give them a thorough watering. If it's rained recently, I make sure to check the soil that it isn't too wet. So, in the Summer it could be weekly and Winter, once a month. hope this helps. 😊🌱🌵🐶

Hi Carmen I love watching your videos. I intend to have a succulent collection this year, in fact I recently signed up for a succulent a month club. Two plants for $12. Most if not all will be in my front window. I was wondering what type (in any) water you use. I know rainwater is best but if there isn’t any rainwater available, do you use tap or distilled water. Our water seems to have salt even though it is filtered. Thank you in advance. Marilyn
@carmenwhitehead3 жыл бұрын
I use filtered water (a brita filter) because our water is terrible also. You can use distilled, but I didn't want to deal with all the plastic containers. Capturing rain water or placing them on the porch for a little while when it's raining is good too. Hope this helps. 😊🌱🌵🐶

You can buy a 6" or 8" pot of a regular one and train it to trail by cutting the stems that grow up and letting the ones that grow out and down alone. That's what I've done with the ones I have. Good luck!😊🌱🌵🐶

Yes, it's botanical name is Aloe Humilis. It's very similar to Aloe Vera. A lot of times I will take a picture of the plant and then load it to google image search. Sometimes you can find the id that way. I do wish they would label plants better. 😊🌱🌵🐶

Hi Carmen! Love the tour! I'm also in Phoenix and would love to turn my apartment patio into a cactus/succulent garden area! I have a west facing patio so it receives the afternoon sun...but half of the patio is shaded, was wondering if that will be ok and what sun you are receiving! 😍
@carmenwhitehead3 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela! My patio is east facing so I get morning sun, which is less harsh. You know better than anyone that the afternoon west sun is harsh. It will burn your more tender succulents (echeverias, sedums). I would recommend getting a roll down shade to add to the end of you balcony if you can. this will protect your plants from too strong of a sun. I have a large patio umbrella I use sometimes for mid day sun. Hope this helps. 😊🌱🌵🐶
