To me, burnouts are something you did when you were 17-18 and thrashing your first car (or dads car). Going fast is a much more noble pursuit, and it never gets old 😂

On my drag race cars, I paint the quarters, tailpipes, etc. with WD40 ahead of time so less rubber sticks. For the rubber that does stick, I've found Bug and Tar remover works really well.

It was nice seeing Supermang at the burnouts because it has a period-correct engine as its base and you had the proper axles on. Reminds me of the days at Summernats when real street machines were in the burnout comp and producing heaps of smoke required skill, not these unregisterable custom built things with supercharged LSes running on methanol, shortened axles and no rear brakes (OK, you did the latter). Stick to speed!

Is a shame to have damaged it, good that you're going to sort out the paint. It did sound amazing but not worth trashing a clean VN Berlina cos they're pretty rare now. Dedicated burnout car would be a cool project, would diversify the channel since they're pretty much all just drag cars atm

Volvo burnout car... yes. Maybe with a supercharged Barra just to be different, there's too many LS burnout cars and they're boring. Supercharged because turbo Barras have been done to death as well.

Agree, cars 2 nice. Others will think otherwise but can't personally see why you would intentionally damage a nice car(s). Like you have indicated, possibilities of a future build. Over here in NZ we are seeing BA & BF Falcons being written off it seems daily, and some have been pretty nice cars not long ago. Still see a few nice original AUs around that have survived.

Yeah, I had my FG written off (really nice G6E turbo too - god I miss it!), then my niece wrote off her mums BA, then her friend wrote off her dads BF all in a matter of a couple of months. All these cars are now at the point where they will start to disappear very rapidly simply due to people still using them as dailies & the number of numpties on the road.

I always wonder what's that weird "adulthood" some people keep on talking about, i think right here Scotty dedicated a whole video on that topic .. so, adulting obviously means a.) better preparations regarding flying hot rubber masses - and b.) thinking again about doing burnout stuff with "a good car", which Supermang for sure is ^^,

If you do build a dedicated burnout car, narrow the diff and mini tubb it with 3mm plate for tubs. Filling the rear quarters behind the wheels with concrete helps too. Look at Lynchy and Mick Brashers Corollas the next time you can. The narrow diff keeps the tyre wires contained in the tubbs

@@STREETMACHINETV Going to Wikipedia and searching for " List of dirt track ovals in Australia " brings up a pretty long list, using google maps and Maxx performance as a starting point, there are 3 or so tracks within a 2 hr drive. A tube frame car gives much more freedom when putting something together since you are not packing parts into a stock bodied car. While I'm not really interested in a burnout car, a quick and dirty one could be whipped up using the hemi you have sitting around. Even a sprint car chassis might be interesting. Also, I'm thinking that the pro cars have much weight on the front end for stability and the ability to whip the rear around.

Just need more skids to help clean that rubber off. Steel belts do a wonderful job like a giant hot mechanical wire brush. If you lower the arse end the square arches will save the Qtrs. My little bro T Web has been doing these skid events for over a decade. Wingen6 is still alive and even road going. They are strong engines. A safe Tune is the key. Tom's radiator popped so hard it damaged the rail in spectacular fashion! The high k T5 gearbox finally let go after a decade of heavy abuse. Luckily he had a new spare and some mates to help swap it out & continue motorfest.

The Burnout is a thrilling experience, mainly due to the consequences involved, the potential failure of not being good at it, car failing you, etc. Thrashing something is a great way to let out the built-up frustration that is life and the sound of an engine at full noise whilst going sideways is always fun. I'd buy a tray back ute and enter the six cylinder class, no problems with messing up paint and body, pluss there's a good chance of taking out the trophy in class. No need to spend huge coin on a blown methanol v8 either.

One of the rare vn's that had dodged having tyre slap ... until now 😅 . IF you were going to build a burnout car , it'd have to be something rather left field like a 316 bmw with the 4.4 out of an x5/540 or similar 🤐 , I vote you build the 316 now 😅 just because you can!

Volvo as a burnout car would work given the diff is already quite strong, the wheels sit narrow on the body and you already were planning to sell it which sucked. Otherwise get a steel bumper Volvo 142 or something similar and put a tougher diff in and 4 link, 6 cylinder class with a supercharged 2j would be cool.

I’m surprised that it didn’t start smashing limiter after you poped off a intercooler pipe as the throttle body is on the blower before the cooler piping

It kind of sucked it down at idle, but you couldn't get any boost out if it

The regret is palpable, hahaha. How to ruin a neat, tidy car in ten seconds. Volvo wagon burnout car would rock! Get seven people in it with two people in the backwards facing seat

How about using the Soarer for a burnout car, you already have it sitting there so you dont need to spend anything on a car just need a motor. Wait did you sell it? If you didnt sell it I think its a good car to use

@@STREETMACHINETV Thats unfortunate, I did remember just after I commented but hoped any way. I look forward to what you can find, a really obscure car would be good, maybe a Hillman just for laughs :)

Considering that you haven't been in a burnout comp for 15 years and that Aussies are the best burnout champs in the world I think you did pretty good, glad the Berlina survived

Definitely do a burnout car, something different especially for a KZbin channel, and a popular one at that

Preparing the Berlina for burnouts would take too much to retain its original pedigree. A burnout Volvo, with any number of combinations, would be awesome.
