I love these videos. I took a practice test, and I brought my grade up from an 85 to a 93! Super excited and I hope that I can kick some butt when I exam. I plan on taking my TEAS test in the fall due to having to wait to apply in the Fall. Can you make a video explaining passive and active voices? I am not entirely sure how to really figure that out. I struggled with this when I was writing different papers in English.

Why is skiing a noun and not a verb in the sentence example? Is it because it’s the first word in the sentence?
@carolynmcallister14962 жыл бұрын
Skiing is a noun, just like golfing, running. You use a verb with it - for example: We went skiing.

Thanks for your video, but I have a question about the example. “The students were excited about their upcoming trip to New York City.” What are the purpose for each noun? Students is a subject of the sentence, trip is a object, New York City is also a object. Is that correct? Thanks.
@carolynmcallister14962 жыл бұрын
OK, first a free grammar lesson: Referring to your question about the purpose: The word 'each' in that question means the subject is singular, so use the singular form of "are": "is. Now, to answer your question: you are correct! Good luck!

How do I identity indirect object in a sentence?
@carolynmcallister14963 жыл бұрын
First identify the subject and verb (Bill likes). Then ask yourself, "What does Bill like?" (Bill likes ice cream.) Ice cream is the object - it refers back to the subject of a sentence. Hope this helps. Good luck!
