Hi, In my first attempt, i had a challenge to finish the reading section with time. Even I didn't get chance to read the comprehension, so I gave randomly. What would ne your suggestion?
@carolynmcallister1496Ай бұрын
Read the questions first! So many students read the passages first, and then they have to reread it after they've read the question. It is not always necessary to read complete passages.Sometimes the answer could be in the title - or in a specific paragraph. Rewatch my Reading videos - and take notes. Also, you only have approximately 1 minute per question, so be sure to manage your time! Good luck to you!

I can't say for sure that the Reading strategies will work on the HESI because I have never taken it. However, the grammar playlist (English & Language Usage) should definitely help. Good luck to you!

The Reading strategies are for the TEAS exam, and it is unlikely that they will work on the Kaplan. However, the English & Language Usage is just basic grammar, so I feel confident that those will work on the Kaplan. Good luck to you!

i'm confused, for the second question, why is it not considered a compound sentence? "The student was sent to the dean's office" and "He had been caught cheating." are both complete sentences. Unless I'm missing something? also for question #4, i don't understand how "chocolate is often their favorite" can be a stand alone sentence?
@carolynmcallister14963 ай бұрын
Please help me out so that I can better answer your question. Which video are you referring to?
@akiyahwilliams828716 күн бұрын
@@carolynmcallister1496 They're referring to this video. Episode 20. I also have the same question as this was the only pratice question I got wrong. Why is #2 not considered a compound sentence at the end of this video? As stated by the other person both: "The student was sent to the deans office" and "He had been caught cheating", sound like idependent clauses. Pleasse help me understand, thank you.

Hi, I saw on a nursing group that you are highly recommended for the English and reading section for the teas. This is going to be my fourth try I find your videos very helpful so far thank you.
@carolynmcallister14963 ай бұрын
Thank you, and I hope you've seen my FB posting about a student that I had worked with several years ago. I started working with him after he had failed 4 times. The 5th time he missed passing by only a couple of points, so I granted him permission to retest a week later (just before the nursing deadline). Not only did he pass then, but he also passed every single Nursing course the first time, as well as the NCLEX, and he now has his BSN! I admire you for not giving up. The test is not hard; it is tricky. That's why I developed the strategies. The two most import pieces of advice I can offer you is to be sure the always read the questions first, and manage your time! Good luck to you, and please let me know how well you did! :)

For the writing part of the teas do you recommend staying in this thread only? I don’t need to study reading. Just the writing/english
@carolynmcallister14964 ай бұрын
There is no "writing" portion of the TEAS. The English Language Usage section is about grammar. Even though you feel confident about the Reading section, the TEAS exam is infamous for being tricky. It might be worth your while to watch that thread as well. Good luck to you!

@carolynmcallister14964 ай бұрын
Hello again! I promised to get back to you regarding tutoring. I am currently dealing with some minor health challenges that might involve surgery. I have decided I should wait to begin tutoring so that I do not have to interrupt any services I provide. I estimate that I will be available to start tutoring this Spring. Meanwhile, watch my videos (they DO also apply to the TEAS 7), and be sure to take notes. I will make an announcement this Spring when tutoring services will be offered. Thank you for patience, and good luck to you!
