@OliverQueen19744 жыл бұрын
Dacron has been used by lots of anglers without them even realising. Most sinking braided reel lines are literally Dacron, regardless of what marketing spiel is put on it by the manufacturers. Same with the braided leader material such as ArmaKord or Nash ArmourBrajd - both are Dacron in the majority with a couple of threads of different materials for some reason or another.

True story I'd pre tied and put my 21mm pellets on my rods. Was end of November and was going to a lake that was rimmed. My mate said we can go to Holliefieid on the Crooked mile instead. Fished the top lake with said baits attached but I glugged them in my home made stuff. My mate said I'm going to go small with little hooks as he had been reading g mags to go small and light in winter. I had a 21lb 7oz common out on my rig and mate had nothing out all day. I had 2 out on the 21mm pellets . Goes to show, if everyone is doing the same thing I'll do the opposite. Happy fishing mate. One thing my mate and I worked on was an adjustable zig in the 80s. 👍

Chilly is cooler than even his name suggests :-) and I agree with what he says... But there's a nagging part of me that screams: Imagine if every carp angler in the world just used a line-aligned hair rig? Besides the fact that this would bankrupt a fair number of tackle companies, it would be dead boring!

I really needed to watch and hear this. I'm new to Carp fishing (this year) and it's so confusing all the different rigs to use and hookbaits etc. Still yet to catch a carp, blanked a handful of times now...used hair rigs, Ronnie rigs, zigs and chod rigs but still nothing. I think I'm over complicating things and not been patient enough with the rig I put out before changing. I think what Ian says about it matters more where the carp are is so true. I need to learn more about that side of fishing I think.

I think it’s all down to individual confidence. You find a bait and rig that you get results with and you take it every where. I’ve done it myself and then gone on to try other baits and rigs but in my head I’ve never been able to relax so revert back to the tried and tested methods . This summer I fished a very weedy shallow park lake that had the green candy floss weed in abundance as well as drifting weed beds and some flow due to it being stream fed . I decided to fish long running chods ( thank you Jim Shelley ) I’d fished chods before but never caught on them or had faith as I preferred the hinge . Long story short I caught a lot of fish and shocked myself ... the weed was so bad I never saw another angler ... and it’s a free to fish lake 🥳🥳🥳 Horses for courses I believe 👍🏻😊🌞

In winter on my lakes the fish go to 100+ foot depths. Agree that you have to be where the fish are and feeding. My main carp fishing was from 82-85 and I would fish for less than 30 minutes, catch a good carp and then go home. The obsession with tackle seems bizarre to me.

I tottaly agree 100% I used to love Carp fishing now im getting sick of it and i have only just started getting back into fishing :-( Ponds are over stocked with fat lazy carp these youngsters are puring ground baits topped with bollies into the swims every five mins :-( The tackle shops are creaming it Tench are nearly exctinct and most of the fat carp iv seen have all had battered lips where people cant set rigs propperly so they twist into the bottom lip its really sad and put me off carp fishing all together :-( i see people loading ait boats evry time they re cast or retack the boat to where they want to fish :-( who needs to cast hey when the boat can spook everyone elses swim on your way to the swim you could have sat at and fished the tip of your rod! I watch a disabled man at a lake trying to use the disabled peg that some lad had a two man bivvy accros while he took up 3 pegs for him self and all his gear for a days fishing Carp anglers have ruiened fishing in the UK :-) Im 37 i started fishing at around 4 fished my first match at 6 That was before pole fishing took over match fishing and that is a disgusting sport iv seen how they treat the fish in a match these day bloody disgusting Chucking them in the net like they are in a sweat shop one after the other! I started canal fishing when i was about 18 and found my love in life! The carp are so difrent a 20b carp is half as fat as the more common mud pig from a pond they are more stream linned and fight much harder. these carp anglers of the mulenium "LOL" they are not fishermen they catch carp! Fishing is an art a skill and a knowladge passed down genaration to genaration! Its not about paying £500 to cast a hook and 20kl of bait on the back of a boat over a fish thats not fishing paying £15 on a day ticket to garantee a catch is not fishing! Rigs and jigs make very little difrence to catching fish at all. I see people in other countries using Pearch as bait to catch Carp! also they only used a bamboo stick as a rod with a peace of line and a bell on it! I have never seen such a big beautiful carp oh and he uses a home made hook NASH and companies of the sort have worked the art of making baits that wont catch as offten as home made baits they also worked out as you say that people will blame the flavoure or size even shape and texture Then they will go and buy more baits that will have just as little effect! I always make my own paste i starght line running ledgure too hook and ill put one bollie rig out at the same time bollie site all day and night nearly no takes maybe 1 or 2 my paste i have to have breaks as it just pulls the fish in every cople of minutes and they are just as big if not bigger then any baits iv ever paid for like bollies! Carp fishing has destroyed the UK's Angeling :-( rigs and jigs "LMFAO"

You catch carp with nouse! They are sharp, intelligent and wary fish. We now have an unofficial thing called "Carp tax". New, expensive end tackle that over complicates the whole process. Old school tactics, simplicity and a bit of nouse, still catches fish. You don't even need fancy rigs and boilies when bread, worms, prawns or even a hot dog sausage still catch fish?! You can go even further than this!
