They say she had perfect pitch.
@henryedwards41165 жыл бұрын
@@John-ob7dh, What is perfect pitch mean?
@KNPrince5 жыл бұрын
@@henryedwards4116 Basically it means that a person like Karen has or had an ear that allowed him/her to be in perfect tune with whatever song she was singing.. almost all of the people that had the pleasure to play with the Carpenters either on the road (live) or in the studio have been quoted... that they never heard Karen hit a sour note while singing. She was just that good. Karen was also known for being a stickler when it came to everything being "perfect" when the Carpenters were on tour. If a band member wasn't paying attention on stage and they hit a flat or sharp note.. Karen would wait for them back stage after the show... "What is wrong with you?" She'd ask.. "Richard and I count on you to put on the best show possible for our audiences. Those people are paying good money to come see our show! Being able to count on you is the least my brother and I ask!" Needless to say... while the pressure to be the best was always there... The Carpenter's have gone down in history as one of the best musical groups of all time.
@thegoose0m15 жыл бұрын
Having perfect pitch is more than just the ability to always sing in tune. It means being able to recognize the "pitch" of a note just from it's sound. For instance; person A plays a single note on the piano, person B, with his/her back turned or eyes closed says that's an A 440. Person B plays another note, person B, "that's a C two steps above". They can also hear a chord and identity it...."that's a A flat minor with a diminished 5th" and so on. Most good musicians have good "relative pitch"; if they hear a note that can sing or hum a 3rd or 5th above, but perfect pitch is relatively rare. I was unaware that Karen had perfect pitch but I'm certainly not surprised....
@KNPrince5 жыл бұрын
Actually Karen recorded the lead vocal three times.. The first two she over emphasized some words and entire sentences.. It was the third time she sang the lead vocal that was used and released for public consumption..
