A very mild abrasive can be used on PPF with a machine polisher, i had a few marks on my Xpel Ultimate which were removed with Sonax PF and a White Rupes pad. I used Kamikaze Film Coat but this product looks just as good and easy to use. Great work.

Good video Sandro....again :) This reminded me that I have a bottle of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (EGP), that I want to get on my car. The right side has just been painted because it was bumped into, while I was overtaking a qeue behind a real slow bugger, by a woman who was going to do the same, but failed to check the mirror before pulling out. So now that it's been painted, I will get it properly polished, and I'll give it a go with EGP on top, just to see how long it'll last. Cheers, Steen

I have not had good success with matte/satin films and coatings. The wrap seems to suck it up and not ever want to level properly and seems like high spots are impossible to remove even when immediately wiped off

I’m on the fence with dedicated clear bra coatings. I clear bra side skirts on all my cars, I’ve used both regular coatings and kamikaze surface coat, and noticed the surface coat doesn’t last as long - you mentioned this at end of the vid but I just thought it’s because I tend to use harsher chemicals on skirts after built up wet road grime, such as spraying a few pumps of apc in my mitt when wiping over them. Also on my white car I was hoping the surface coat would slow the discoloring from embedded road oils, but it hasn’t really - on my last detail I didn’t use it, just doubled up on the coating instead

If durability is up to 12 months and can be removed by certain chemicals, what’s the shelf life of a bottle of skin once opened? As the bottle looked to be a fair size and if your only applying to sections of a car with small patches of PPF there would be ALOT left over?...

You can also use it on paint. I bought it for my gf's Jeep that I took to work to get Xpel Fusion applied to it. Now I wish I had just used Optimum Gloss Coat, which is what I put on the rest of the vehicle. I honestly wasn't knocked out with Skin, but I'm probably using it wrong. I absolutely suck at coating applications. I hate them!

Hi Sandro thanks for taking the time to do a great tutorial on car pro skin. I have a customer that has a fully wrapped van and would like it coated with this product. What preparation would be done on a fully wrapped vehicle prior to applying it, thanks 😀

It depends how long ago it was wrapped and if there’s any substantial fallout or traffic film on the wrap. If it’s a relatively new wrap, a good pre-soak with Carpro Lift and hand wash with Reset followed by a really good dry and IPA wipe with Eraser should really do it. If it’s an older wrap that has fallout, I’d use Iron-X and if after the hand wash to try and remove as much of it as possible. If the wrap is a gloss finish you can also polish it with a fine polish and foam polishing pad, but I’d only do that if the wrap is oxidised and if the client whats that level and is willing to pay for it.

Hi Sandro, this video brought me to your channel, excellent info-packed stuff. Would you say that this coating is still top of its class? I know many coatings work well on PPF (and that Gyeon and Gtechniq now do PPF-specific ones) but to your knowledge can any of them better Carpro Skin?

Thanks and I’d love to be able to give you a good answer but the truth is I haven’t tested those other ones so I really can’t say how they compare to Skin.

Thanks for the video! Curious if there’s a major benefit to use Skin vs. UK 3.0 on PPF. I did the rest of my car except entire front which has 3M clear bra with 3.0 and have half bottle left therefore hesitant to spend more $ unless you really feel this product is much more optimal. Appreciate your input. Cheers

You can use Carpro Reload every couple of months and even Elixir after each maintenance wash.

Flash time is a period coatings need to bond to the surface before you wipe off its excess - like allowing a car wax to haze before you wipe it down.

what is the difference between cquartz skin and cquartz uk 3.0? can uk3.0 be used in factory matte paint?

The real difference is durability and removal ability. Skin can be more easily chemically broken down which is better for matte paint that can be polished. You can and I have used CQUK on matte paint.

You just want it completely clean and bare. A good wash with something like Carpro Reset or Lift which can be followed by using Iron-X (but only if there’s environmental fallout on the vinyl) a good dry and then use an IPA panel wipe like Carpro Eraser immediately before applying Skin.

I’d tend to try and limit the use of tar removers on wraps as they are also adhesive removers and may cause the vinyl to lift prematurely, but if you keep it away from the edges and it’s a good quality wrap it should be ok. Reload and Elixir are probably good options to maintain Skin.

Another great presentation. So just to confirm, this is designed for films or wraps that have been put onto your cars and helps funny enough protect the film that protects the paint??? Thus you still use say Concours EVO on the paint if you DON'T have any film protection?? You would have thought the cost of all that film ppf stuff would have included UV protection without the need for another coating on the coating. Who would have thought looking after paint could be complex nowadays. The days of ole turtle wax are long gone.

If the PPF doesn’t have a built in coating or it’s worn off, Skin can be a great way to enhance and improve the behaviour of the film.

I would personally just see how the PPF is behaving during the wash stage. If the water is flat and pooing it means there’s no top coating layer at present, but if it’s still beading and sheeting the water rapidly if meanings the PPF has a present top coat still active.
