I’ve watched many travel vloggers travel through Afghanistan but this series is the best no doubt. Carrie does an amazing job of showcasing Afghan culture, the food, the architecture and the history. It’s heartwarming to see the respect she shows the Afghan people after all they have suffered as a result of wars and the general disregard and aversion by the international community. InshaAllah she only meets kind souls like hers on her travels.

I think I would actually feel much safer there than in many other countries. Hi Carrie. The 'toothbrushes' that you saw in the beginning actually are called "miswak", and these are commonly found in Muslim majority countries, both due to their cheapness but effectiveness and their religious significance. They're made from a tree commonly called the "toothbrush tree" (salvadora persica), which contains antibacterial chemical compositions.

It's sad that the Taliban still keep Afghan women marginalized. If they can treat a foreign lady with respect and really equally then what is the difficulty in extending that to their wives and daughters? More foreign ladies visiting maybe with time will change things -- I think everyone including probably most Afghans can agree this will be when Afghanistan can really open up. Prayers, Prayers.
@user-602676 ай бұрын
Afghans are some of the most conservative Muslims in the world alongside countries like Saudi Arabia. I think in time they will loosen up but it’s important to understand why they are the way they are. I think they are fearful of becoming liberal because that brings its own social evils as a byproduct which are prohibited in Islam. For example, no man in their right mind would catcall an Afghan woman just because of the fear of consequences. The Afghan men would like to keep it that way lol. Dubai is a prime example of what can happen when a conservative society opens up. I don’t know if you’re aware but Dubai is currently one of the centres of s*x trafficking in the world. A lot of Muslims see that and would rather live with fewer “freedoms” but keep the values they hold dear to their hearts like family and the safety of their women from bad men/gangs. In the nearly 2bn Muslims, we face these challenges internally as well and are constantly trying to draw a line for ourselves; that’s the case for Muslims living in the West too.

Thanks for the lecture on us. You are totally wrong. Afghanistan has fundamentalists , liberals , seculars , socialists and center ideology loving ppl. Don't paint us with one color. I am an afghan and I am a socialist.
