I sort of understand the hate towards this film, maybe this is just my nostalgia towards this film but, in my opinion Cars 2 is a very entertaining movie, it works as a spy movie and I honestly don’t find mater annoying. I love this movie and think it might of been less hated if the “spy movie”, Mater central story was released as more of a spin off rather than part of the mainline cars trilogy. I look back on this movie incredibly, incredibly fondly and wish it was not as dogged on

I rate it as a 6/10 I like the mater and spy stuff but I felt like Lightning and the world Grand Prix should’ve been a much bigger focus. I can see Lightning griefing over doc’s death and thinking he can’t race without doc only to have his friends come in help him. I don’t think it’s a bad movie but I still kinda wish they didn’t really sidelined McQueen. But that’s just my opinion and we don’t need to have the same thoughts I think most of the hate is warranted but I also think it gets rated a little too low

I know there was supposed to be more races to the World Grand Prix at one point, I do think McQueens grief would’ve been too heavy for a B-plot, though I suppose an entirely rewritten plot could’ve dealt with that.

@@iMEGAmation that’s basically what I did, rewritten the entire to have more focus on McQueen’s side while also trying to keep the spy stuff. I changed a few things like have a Paris race, Axlerod reveals himself to be the villain earlier in the film. Overall I would say I did a somewhat decent job with my rewrite

Cars 2 has been among my favorite pixar movies for as long as I can remember so the moment i saw this i had to click. You're completely right, the jarring difference between plot, setting, characters, everything between cars 1 and cars 2 prob led to it's downfall 😔but still underrated af

I still don’t think Cars 2 is great but it’s not all bad and there are plenty of far worse Pixar films Kinda weird how people complain about how how Cars 2 was only made to sell merchandise. I mean it was but I can say the same thing about any other Pixar squeal, that’s what companies do, find ways to make as much money as possible

Yup, Cars 2 just give the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy treatment, both evolved from hated when released to grown loved it in a good way. Let’s hope Planes and Planes Fire and Rescue did the same treatment like Cars 2 did. That’s why I wished Cars 4 will be sequel to Cars 2.
