Racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his tow-truck buddy, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), have had their share of adventures together but nothing like what they experience when they head overseas for the first-ever World Grand Prix. Fun fact The boat in the beginning is based off of the F/V Northwestern, a fishing vessel used to catch crab up near Alaska. The voice actor used for the ship in the movie is Sig Hansen, the captain of the real life Northwestern. Honestly, I think Cars 2 would be best as a spin off movie about Mater’s ultimate tall tale. It would have been hilarious if the end of the movie had McQueen saying the typical: “Mater that did not happen…but it was a super cool story.” And show Mater winning first prize for the best story during a Radiator Springs storytelling contest. There. The movie is somewhat “better.” Have Finn watching in the background and then flying away with Holly just to add the typical “Mater’s Tall Tales” spin on it too. The movie had potential but mixed too many plots at once. Cars should be about McQueen’s racing journey. Mater’s Tall Tales is…well…Mater’s Tall Tales. Personally, the movie should have been called: From the World of Cars Mater’s Ultimate Tall Tale
