@@comeberza CT scan (cat scan) and MRI are not the same thing, CT uses x rays while MRI uses insane magnets (and liquid helium to cool super conductors), neither of them would actually fit in the car I think

the british version of Pimp my Ride was even more wicked, the girl had a Ford Escort and they pimped with those body kits with a BMW grille, not to mention when they put a skate ramp inside a Fiat Panda

Yep, modded cars often have some of the crappiest work done to them. Butchered wiring, those blue scotch locs everywhere, and are less reliable than stock. Often they've been ragged on too.

I was confused why they seemed so oblivious to some of the mods until I realized that they are only seeing the one picture and not the videos. It would have made more sense for them to also watch the video, or at least clarify that their reactions were based on just the image.

I think they’re only three instances on that show where they gave the contestant a brand new car and pimped that instead. The first one was the scion xb because of the welded ford escort. Second time was a Ford Fairlane, but because they learned that the contestant was going to school for automotive tech, they gave him a brand new Toyota 4runner and pimped that instead. They also gave him the fairlane so he can work on it. Third time was a Nissan pulsar that was running too rough so they gave her a pimped out Ford Mustang.

I remember as a kid watching MTV here in Finland and that Pimp My Ride was my absolute jam, I was like 5 at the time, still resonates with me today. Having some of these features in a showcar that actually was mechanically functional would be absolutely dope, for example that grill in a hearse, amazing idea.

My friend owned/drove around in a retired hearse just after high school. I can confirm to Filippo that there is nothing more “down on your luck” than driving an old hearse. Even the friend with a 1989 Plymouth Voyager panel van looked down on the hearse.

I apprenticed at WCC in 2004 during my winter break from college. The customer cars were way higher quality than the MTV cars. The Escort with the BMW front end swap kept coming back because the goofy shit in the car kept getting “stolen.”

Modified cars are the best. You can't really charge for parts or labor, so you can pick up a car with all the things one would want to do anyway. Tune, exhaust, suspension, cooling. I don't see why anyone who enjoys maximising the performance of their car, wouldn't want this. I got about $6Kaud of mods on my mk6 R for free and it hasn't skipped a beat in 6 years. Just don't buy dodgy cars.

I've seen a couple of the cars in real life from pimp my ride and was never impressed. Anita Pointer was family friends of the aspiring stunt woman who had her Taurus I believe done and it sat in Anita's driveway for a couple years because they could never fix the wiring issues the show created.

It is also interesting to look up what happened to the cars that Pimped out on the show. Many of the owners lost the vehicle, due to increased cost, tickets/fines for the mods not being legal, or their insurance dropping them/not covering the mods. Some also crashed them shortly after they got them back. That show was stupid and staged alot as well. With some times, they added something, like flames out the tail pipe, just to show off in the show, but then had to remove them before giving the car back.

Doug, once again, with his notion that Italy is a poor country. What this shows is that he doesn't know poor Americans. Because poor Americans are far worse off than poor Italians. Italy has far fewer ultra-rich people, but it has a better spread of wealth. The American Dream is a disaster for US society because so many people assume that they might one day be rich, therefore they don't want any restrictions or decent taxation on the wealthy.
