That entire Europe '09 concert was perfection. This is definitely CB's Best Solo on film imho.

Simple drum solo but looks aggressive and perfectly timed those hit, that is how the drum sounds like a drum in live concert. :) Takes effective effort. :)

Had a great drummer tell me "I can figure out Danny Carey but can't play it. But I can't figure out Carter."

No doubt but it's just that snare cops the brunt of his solo's where if you watch aquilies Priester you can get an idea of what you call a god of the drumming world

Gotta throw away the whole snare drum every night after a beating like that LMAO

He's much better at more subtle "soloing" behind his band. That's where he does mind-blowing stuff. Some drummers are just better when they pick up inspirational cues from their bandmates. He is just not the same out there by himself. Nothing wrong with that, just different from other soloists.

I really enjoyed listening to Carter in the 90s with Dave Matthews Band. Really like his unique drumming style in the songs. However this drum solo I was really disappointed. It seem to spend 100% of the time on the snare drum and kick and hitting a lot of symbols in a wide wash. But I would’ve really enjoyed more if he had done some really cool melodic tom work and other percussion sounds instead.

Drummers are very different and can use whatever combination of drums or cymbals they want. A pro drummer can make just 1 single snare or a bunch of cymbals sound musical. It's pretty much the same stuff with marching bands.

He’s a jazz drummer in a rock bank. Your best jazz drummers are four piece kit.

Jazz drumming at play here I’m pretty sure after watching the solo that Carter was originally a jazz drummer and has his roots in jazz music before getting the gig with Dave and DMB is a Jazz Fusion band anyways so he trying to combine the two Jazz and rock in his playing the best he can! for what he can do I think he’s pretty amazing not everybody is great at soloing as it’s a different musical different skill set

I honestly wanna see a carter solo where he doesnt just ride the double kick w everything. Yeah its showy and sounds great, but i just wanna see a solo where its not involved...

Carter is a beast. But this solo is average at best. Was a bit surprised at how I wasn’t like omg! I’m thinking he’s got more than that in his trick bag.

He is jazz drummer in a rock band though his kit is way bigger than it really needs to be even though he does make a point to use all of his kit in someway this is not to talk down on Carter or downplay the fact that he is a pretty amazing drummer! not everybody is a as strong as a soloist

Can't stand drummer with huge kit n all they do is perradidels n cymbals crashes weakest drum solo stop praising average talent
