The seventh chapter of Genesis tells of a flood that covered the entire world, but many scientists-and even many Christians-deny that such a catastrophe could have ever happened. Despite their doubt, our planet's rocks provide ample evidence that this event actually occurred!
Join ICR scientists as they travel across the American West to examine the very real evidence of a global flood. Truly, the evidence has been carved in stone.

I have driven throughout the Western US and I can see evidence of a massive flood everywhere. Huge alluvial fans that are obviously from a single event not thousands of small events over millions of years. I too believe there was one continent which broke up during the flood. I enjoy geology but have to ignore their time scale. I am amazed they do not see the circular reasoning they use for coming up with dates. Anyway, enjoyed the video and I am looking forward to future videos.

@@ITPalGame One thing is to say, "NE Africa shows clear massive flooding." Another is to show us this evidence, or harder still, show us that something you saw is evidence for anything. What evidence, and how do you interpret this "evidence" to mean a massive flood happened? How do you know that the alluvial fans all happened at the same time? I approve of your qualifying phrase "I too believe that..." which renders that sentence indisputably true. If you ignore the time scale, then you don't enjoy geology, you enjoy seeing rocks and mountains and plains and fantasizing about them.

That word "unbiased," I don't think it means what you think it means (thanks to The Princess Bride). The absolute definition of biased is starting from a conclusion (the bible) and then finding arguments which support the conclusion. Unbiased is when you observe things and then study them to try to figure out the reason behind them, sometimes being able to make a reasonable explanation and occasionally reaching a tentative conclusion (in science, all conclusions are considered tentative even if they seem absolutely ironclad certain). Here I repeat a quote I have seen in these threads: Science is having questions that need answering. Religion is having answers that cannot be questioned.

It actually requires some level of education to be able to grasp some of the more complex concepts in science (and in all other fields). @annieoaktree6774
@annieoaktree6774 8 ай бұрын
Creationist claims about global covering megasequences are simply not true. There are six recognized cratonic sequences in North America caused by ingression and regression of various seas and changes in ocean level in the last 540 MY but they do *NOT* extend all over the globe or even to other continents as this video falsely claims. You can read about the North American cratonic sequences (Sauk, Tippecanoe, Kaskaskia, Absaroka, Zuñi, and Tejas) in any decent geology textbook and see how much these folks are giving you bad information.
@jzarbaugh
@jzarbaugh 7 ай бұрын
I believe there are a few good reasons for that. Since the maps were created using actual bore holes drilled into every continent, the info is accurate. Just because the entire planet was covered with water does not mean that everything was covered by new sediment in the end. Initially, the flood sheared off parts of the original pre-flood rock. Then it deposited sediment in waves/stages. The megasequences were not laid down onto flat land. Valleys were filled first and high lands didn’t always collect sediment. As cracks formed or volcanic activity broke through, sediment often poured into these gaps and valleys. When water receeded and lowered between megasequences, sediment was often washed away from some surfaces. Forming mountains and continental collisions often distributed sediment in unexpected ways. The final stage of the flood occurred during the Tejas megasequence, and it was largely identified by its massive erosion. If a grey area survived the global flood, it was very likely uncovered during the Tejas erosion.

@jzarbaugh 7 ай бұрын
I don’t know all the answers, but I do know that some of the sediment came from the movement of the tectonic plates. When the ocean floor split open, the volcanic activity beneath the surface began creating new ocean floor. The fountains of the deep also brought sediment up to the surface. If you study the surface of the ocean floor, you can see where new ocean floor was laid down and pushed the continental plates away from those areas. Of course, that means the plates had to have somewhere to go. When huge tectonic plates meet, there aren’t many options. One plate can rise up above the other, pushing it down deep into the earth. Another option: one plate can fold and buckle, creating mountain ranges and valleys. Some of these pressure points allowed for volcanoes to spring up . There is a “ring of fire” around Hawaii where you can see where a collection of volcanoes now exist where these plates meet. So , we have some sources of sediment: 1. The debris brought to the surface from the opening of the fountains of the deep 2. The molten activity that created new sediment for the ocean floor. 3. The sediment that was sheared away from the original land by the initial stages of the global flood. 4. The rock formed by many new volcanoes and volcanic activity all around the world. 5. The stirring up of rock by the collision of the continental plates. 6. Sediment stirred up by tectonic plates that were driven deep into the surface of the planet upon collision. 7. Anything from the ocean that was washed onto land by the flood. 8. The tremendous amount of erosion that occurred during the final stages of the flood in the Tejas megaseqience. I’m sure there are other sources as well. It was clearly a massive, world-wide catastrophe that moved just about everything from its original location. All trees and plant life died and decayed. All life was either buried quickly or obliterated by the flood. I think these layers of sediment could be made up of just about anything.

@silversilk8438
@silversilk8438 8 ай бұрын
Hello! I want to know what you mean by your reference to Matthew, and I’m excited to hear what you know. On the other hand, I hear “Stand for Truth” had a recent debate on geocentrism vs heliocentrism. It was interesting; Sungesis did the geocentric position, if you know him. I just wanted to say as someone who puts the Bible’s authority above vain claims of so-called science: When scripture refers to pillars of the earth it’s talking about people in positions of power, authority, and prestige. It’s not just in the Old Testament, but also in the New Testament. (See Galatians 2:9.) And in 1 Samuel 2:8, pillars is in the same context as Galatians 2:9, that being it’s about people set in authority. But I understand frustration with people explaining a globe earth with bad explanations. I didn’t find it persuasive to use the Pythagoras stick experiment, since it can be interpreted both ways depending on your starting paradigm. The evidence that convinced me that the “earth hangs on nothing,” (as it says in the book of Job) is… the way earth quake waves ripple through the layers of the earth (the S waves and P waves, and the speeds of these waves through materials, and where they don’t go, and WHEN they reach where), some earthquake waves going THROUGH the centre as would only be geometrically consistent with a sphere. Also, the southern hemisphere’s night sky (with its southern cross), and looking into aviation, and this really empirical one: the fact that the sun isn’t present in the sky at all times. (Everyone knows that you can see a light from a long way off in the dark, even if you aren’t being bathed in its light, and things above the horizon will be visible from a very long way away.) Also, watching the phases of the moon, understanding from working it out with littler models that the shadows on the moon work if the moon is circling around the earth (but if the earth was a flat plane, there could never be full moons without eclipses, since the small moon would be under the small sun and would always cast its shadow, right?)… also from an artistic perspective, understanding the converging and diverging rays of the sun and watching the shadows cast by clouds onto the ground from airplane windows; earth is tiny, but earth is not an infinite plane any more than the ocean is infinitely deep just because we’re a speck within it. I think the cosmos, too, are finite, but well beyond our full comprehension of them, What do you think of those evidences? ~>Signed, Someone who listened to both sides to evaluate the evidence when it went viral circa 2015 AD.

Great work. I recommend you guys consider the expanding Earth model rather than plate tectonics as a context of the flood. It provides an explanation for where the flood waters went to after they amassed atop the continents: into newly forming ocean beds. The magnetic anomaly map of the Earth (gplates from Cesium) provides precise mapping of the exact paths that undercurrents below the crust flowed throughout the process, at the base of the crust. It is interesting that the quartz in the dig site he says "possibly coming up from the bottom of the crust or upper mantle" which is the region where these undercurrents flowed.

Flatten out the mountains, and undo erosion, and you have what appears to be the bottom of a circle.

Most creationists will say metamorphism happened before or during the Flood. Creationists should also consider if metamorphism happened after the Flood when mountains were uplifted. This provides a more simple explanation for river channels such as the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon would have been easily carved during uplift and metamorphism. The heat from this would have evaporated most water sources and cause ongoing rainfall to erode these geological features while they were hot. Such an event would have caused mass extinctions after the Flood.

Think of a continental plate as if it were a large flat piece of styrofoam under water. When the geological forces began to break up Pangaea and the continental plates began to slide away from each other, they would slide horizontally under the ocean surface. When those geological forces began to subside and the continental plates began to slow, the continental plates would begin to rise, buoyed up by the oceanic plates below them, and water would rush off of them as they breached the surface. The mass extinctions were caused directly by the flood. _"All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died."_ - Genesis 7.22

@@rubiks6 _The mass extinctions were caused directly by the flood._ Please explain the details. Please explain why the fossil record shows five distinct mass extinction events each affecting the whole planet, with each event dated to a specific time from 440 MYA to 66 MYA, and why the fossils show a distinct pattern of re-radiation of new species after each extinction event. @@rubiks6 I've done my homework. There's no physical way your one year Flood could have produced the mass extinctions and sorting by strata in the data we see in the fossil record. That means your Flood is effectively disproven.

Sorry for asking questions but shouldnt everyone share a lot more DNA than we do? If we all came from noah then we should see that common ancestor that recently... instead we find a common ancestor way further back and share less DNA than we would had the noah story been true. I think noah did build an ark, i just dont think he was the only survivor and DNA proves that. The noah story is verbatim the epic of gilgamesh... christians need to start asking questions like who edited and bastardized their bibles.... once you learn the answer to that you wont so freely believe every word. Its not like God handed down a bible the way he handed down the commandments, so it may behoove you to understand who is responsible for the editions and translations and how far they are from the original hebrew.

I learned from Family Tree DNA that Y DNA mutates often. There can be 1 genetic difference between father and son! That's very fast. Take a look at the book Traces for an indepth look at DNA from Noah's sons and how it relates to groups today. You can find KZbin presentations on it Answers in Genesis, Traces.

@@nancycrayton2738 We're all going to share 99% of the same dna because were the same species but we can trace a common ancestor to 100K-200K years ago. If we all shared DNA with noah that would be much more recent. To have a great flood like Noah you have to have polar ice caps miles thick that are all melting within weeks. This probably happened 11,600 years ago. The bible stories are conventionally supposed to be 2000-5000 years ago. We should all look like we come from the same family.... Do we? Gradual generational change due to geography etc. does not explain the differences in races we see today especially in such a short time span.

This video vastly misrepresents what is known about trilobites. Trilobites aren't a single species. They are an entire taxonomic *class* of animals consisting to 10 orders, over 5000 genera, and over 22,000 known species. They evolved eyes independently at least 3 times. The earliest simple examples are found in the Cambrian around 521 MYA. In the subsequent almost 270 million years they evolved greater complexity and diversified into the large variations mentioned. Trilobites finally went extinct 252 MYA during the Permian mass extinction. Trilobite fossils have been found on all 7 continents but have NEVER been found in strata above the end of the Permian.
