Introducing the all-new BMW XM!
It’s the first bespoke M car to be released since 1978, and it is absolutely insane! So let’s go take a closer look.
For starters, there’s no denying that the design is pretty polarising. Up front, there’s an absolutely huge lit-up kidney grille, 22” wheels as standard on either side and some stacked exhaust pipes around the back. It also has two BMW logos engraved into the rear window, just like in the last bespoke M car - the M1, released back in 1978!
In terms of performance, the XM is an absolute beast! It comes equipped with the same tried & tested 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 as found in the M5. However, the XM also comes with an electric motor which means it can produce 650hp and 800Nm of torque! That’s not all though - there’ll be a special Red Label edition released next year which will come with 748hp & 1,000Nm of torque! That’s 24hp more than the Ferrari Purosangue!
As for the interior, there aren’t too many surprises to be found here. It comes with the same wraparound infotainment system as found in the iX, and the entire interior is covered in Alcantara, leather and carbon fibre. All-in-all, it looks pretty special!
So it all sounds pretty impressive, right? The question is, should anyone be prepared to pay the eye-watering £145,000 price tag?! You’ll need to stick with Mat to find out!

That grille is smaller. Also, a larger grille and radiator are technically better even if they're not necessary. Remember they have to cool the electronic components of the drivetrain instead of just the gas powered parts. Hot batteries reduce power, just ask Tesla.

You'd think they'd learn from the m4, you'd think they'd learn from i3 but then they come up with this. Everyone should see this car in mineral white with those gold trim colors and in combination with the gold rims. It doesn't get any better than that. In my opinion, this is by far the most beautiful BMW of all time and one of the most beautiful SUVs, if not the most beautiful SUV in the world. This aggressive and futuristic design is stunningly beautiful. I just hope that the Label Red version is significantly faster than the normal version. 3.5 seconds from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) must be possible, otherwise the performance is really disappointing. Please do a drag race next year with the BMW XM Label Red, the Urus Performante and the Ferrari Purosangue 🙏 However, the weather conditions should be optimal!

So if the engine is the same as the M5, and detuned to 489 as opposed to 625, surely that means a stage 1 tune will take the overall power from 653 to nearly 800? Obviously that's assuming the torque curve is similar to the M5's, but assuming you can bump up the engine to near the 680-700hp you can from an M5/M8 Competition, and the peaks are in roughly the same places, that'd be a really powerful hybrid. BMWs are known for doing this too, in the tuning circles, with 330es and 545es getting bumped to 400hp and 500hp respectively.

The 489hp version is the N68, the more toned down variant, and it will be put in the "almost M" 50i versions from here on. The S68, with 748hp and 1000Nm, is the true M engine and it will be the one to be put in the Label Red and (hopefully) in the next M5 Competition.
