They are actually not that bad at tech. 2018 Audi Q5 also has a track pad instead of a knob. I think Mat doesn't like it because he's not used to it. Like I can use any infotainment system because they are all fairly easy. I did have a bit of trouble using Mercedes a few times because I forgot how to work it 😅😅
@Horizon301.5 жыл бұрын
Zacky Mohmand it’s not a track pad. It’s a pad to draw letters, that’s the only purpose. The swivel wheel is what you use. Audi, VW and BMW have always been ahead in this area, never had any problems using their systems even gen 1 I drive was pretty easy to use as a child

Tried the UX250h yesterday and I was bloody surprised how good it was. 1. The engine noise wasn´t that bad as many think it is. Yes you hear it a little bit, but it isn´t loud as a old Nissan or Toyota. 2. The touchpad was kinda weird in the beginning, but I could operate it just like Audis MMI after 5 minutes. You just need to be a little bit more gentle with the pad and it vibrates to let you know you slide it to the next menu/function. 3. It has some decent range on fuel too. Over 600 km on 43 l tank is really good for a petrol engine with CVT-gearbox. 4. It´s much more comfortable than a Audi Q2, Mini Countryman, GLA and X2. 5. The biggest one: It will be super reliable, compared to Germans. Japanese are known to have electronics and tech which might feel a little bit ancient, but they will never break down.

My first Lexus after many years of Mercs. I have had my UX for five months. I agree with the two main criticisms - the small load space and the rubbish infotainment system. The rest of his annoyances are a bit picky, I think. But, I should point out that mine has averaged 54.5mpg in the 4500 miles I've done in it - and it is one of the smoothest cars I've ever driven.

thanks for that real-life example.. my mom just called me that she just was at the Lexus dealer and will test drive the UX in 2 weeks (and then odds are that she's going to buy it as she sounded really excited for it).. It'd be her first Lexus, and also her first hybrid car. The lack of infotainment system will not really be relevant to her (her current Honda CRV from 2013 doesn't even have navigation or bluetooth/hands-free, so anything current is a step up), but the restrictions of the boot may be something to consider for her as she's playing golf almost daily (most of the time the bag is in the locker of her club, but if she goes to other courses there may be a limitation, especially if she also wants to bring her e-trolley..) I will let her know that she should test that before making a buying decision, but as she mostly drives alone in the worst case she could put either the bag or the trolley on the back-seats and be fine. Most of the time she drives with her partner anyways and his car has plenty of space for both bags and trolleys.

I purchased this car before watching this. Agree 100% with the review. The infortainment system is a disaster and is actually dangerous with this touchpad. It distracts you while driving. I don't understand why the didn't do a touchscreen. There is no place to put a mobile but to squeeze it into a very small charging pad. It is very claustrophobic too. Try to get out of this car when you wear winter garments. Mirrors don't fold. You get folding mirrors with other vehicle in the same category. And the last thing, it looks and feels like a much cheaper Toyota C-HR. On a positive note, the hybrid battery gives a serious power kick when accelerating. Main reason I chose the RAV4 over this. The infotainment system in the RAV is super easy to use and thankfully its touch screen! Surprisingly a base UX was cheaper than my XLE Premium Rav with options it was 36k and the UX is around 34K.
