My mind is blown at how ballsy and brazen this guy was. I've been researching killers for a couple decades and never come across anyone like this guy. Truly fascinating and this podcast is the best podcast/audio/video on the subject of the Golden State Killer. Amazing work mate!

---He also flew under the radar for so many years too! Another ‘doesn’t fit a stereotype’ is James ‘Mike’ DeBardeleben. The FBI chased him for years as a prolific counterfeiter but when they got him, they got a serial killer too. They found bunches of audio tapes of his torturing his own wife. It was a chilling thing to listen to.

I've just finished the whole East Area Rapist Casefile series on google podcasts, absolutely superb! The depth of research that Casefile do is just the best I've ever heard. As many others have mentioned, how Casefile has so few subscribers is as much a mystery as many of the cases they cover. Thank you so much for all your wonderful work and effort to bring us such high quality content! 👍👍♥️♥️♥️

This podcast is absolutely amazing. I listen to it in the background while I'm working on art projects, and this is the second time I've listened to this particular story. I always picture Jesse Spencer (Dr. Chase from the House series) as the narrator, but I love that you keep it a mystery. The research and story telling that this team puts into the stories just take it to the next level- the whole team should be so proud of every episode you produce. You deserve so many more youtube views. The effort you put in pays off, these stories have an extra pop... I have never, never EVER heard of a detail that chilled me the way the Charlene and Lyman Smith murder scene did. The detail about how their alarm clock had been ringing for two days while they laid there dead- that one detail just haunts me, it chills my blood to the marrow. I know that happens in these kind of cases, but it is the freakiest thing I've ever heard. You should check out the Victoria Stafford murder in Woodstock Ontario.

I was born in 1974 and lived on the other side of the country in an area that did not experience crime like this but I was raised that you always make sure your doors and windows are always locked. That has followed me throughout my years and since hearing this podcast I've started checking my guns in the morning and evening to make sure they're where they are supposed to be and that they are all loaded.

Man it must of been frustrating being the police at the time when witnesses wouldn't report anything until it was too late, would of been frustrating as hell working that case for so many years imagine the amount of lost sleep or struggles at home. Also sad for the families. Looking forward to watching the update on this afterwards, great podcast and it's delivered so well. I listen to all these casefile cases at work for the last couple of months and i've got a lot more to go. Thanks for sharing these bits of history.

For me...the most shocking thing is how the cops in different counties, cities and regions, kept the information of the crimes all to themselves. I mean really, how many of the victims might have at least had a chance if they had known there was such a prolific criminal/murderer doing his evil all over the state?

@erinhiner45404 жыл бұрын
Yes that was his original name.😊
@judywright42414 жыл бұрын
--‘Golden State Killer’ moniker was from Michelle McNamara’s book ‘I’ll Be Gone In the Dark’. ‘East Area Rapist’ or ‘Original Night Stalker’ was the first names by the police. He was also the ‘Visalia Ransacker’ which had the earmarks of D’Angelo in that stealing money but little else of actual value. He liked taking sentimental items and entering homes many times before actually choosing who he would attack. Calling afterwards, this guy thrived on destruction of lives and the peace of mind of his victims. Hard to punish such a person for the pain and suffering he left behind him for his own sick enjoyment.

I wonder if the police ever contacted all the doctors in the area and asked them about patients fitting the description who had unusually small penises. It would be kind of a nasty thing to do, but I think this particular end would justify the means.
