They are a 12V system, someone has connected two 6V batteries together in series to get 12V out. You can connect either one 12V or two 12V batteries in parallel to give higher cold cranking amps and capacity. One battery isn't usually enough.

You should be checking the fuel tank has no water and the air filter and the coolant level, hydraulic fluid level and engine oil level, that engine oil isn't very old, that lever is the fuel shut off which connects to the injector pump via a cable. The key turned anticlockwise is the glow plugs.

Be prepared to get screwed your gonna get it up and running then decides to keep it I've had that happen several times

I recently had to revive a 580c backhoe that my dad had let sit for 7 years. It started and ran good but the injecter pump was leaking into the engine oil and shuttle valve leaked like a sieve. I didn't want to mess with fixing it so I sold it to a neighbor for $2,500.

Same here, the injector pump is leaking where the throttle linkage passes through it. I’ve been told it’s just a couple of “O” rings and a cover gasket. I’ll be trying to address that issue a little later.

Those injector pumps are easy to rebuild and parts are readily available, they often leak but with a seal kit it lasts okay.

It never had a hoe on it. That's a factory weight bracket on the back. It was made for just loader work, heavy loader work judging from the amount of weight. They also came with a three point hitch on the back as well. Best regards from Indiana.

Get to know how diesel engines work. That will help you with other problems. Hamilton ville farms have some great videos on there diesel start up. All the engines are the same principals. Good luck have fun.
