Neko Case, kd lang and Laura Veirs brought their eclectic band to the Portland Zoo Summer Concert Series on a July 2nd Saturday night, performing Neil Young's HELPLESS and k.d. langs CONSTANT CRAVING. One beautiful night of music!

It's the way she pours herself into the microphone that moves me. The way, when she bends forward, that her voice just comes from the center of her and follows the mic to my ears makes my aura explode. Her energy is visible to me. I think electricity finds its own beginning in her.

I love her voice. Saw her for the first time in '82-83 in a small downstairs club in Edmonton when she was in her Patsy Cline reincarnation phase- cowgirl outfit with glasses and boots. What a night! and she hasn't slowed down or gotten better since. Always a delight to return over and over to the well of genius!

Every time I watch her DVD's, she's even better than last time! She looks great singing outside with her handsomely beautiful features and her relating so well with her loving audience. There will never be, couldn't be, another singer that could mesmerize one the way she does. Not to mention that she's not just a born performer but I'm happy that she chose to use her natural acting abilities for the stage instead of the movies; Salmonberries was good, though.

The "show" is pretty much shown in its entirety here. They basically run through the record in order. Apparently they also each add a song or two from their individual catalog. This is an interesting "project" with contributions from each of three very different singer/song writers individually and collectively. (the harmonies are gorgeous).
