I realize that the very short sentences handed down to Beatty in the '90's were the attempt to get away from the Draconian sentences of the past, but horrifying how that allowed a sexual psychopath to keep offending. Thank you for your excellent work.

Great job, CF! This was a complicated case and you handled it beautifully, with all of the decorum we've come to expect from the CF team! You never disappoint! I'm absolutely horrified that the police had the killer in their grasp and they let him go, only to prey upon the victims two young brothers as possible suspects!!!!!! We are supposed to trust the police! Now I see why so many murders go unreported......the victim's families probably figure, "Why Bother!"

Well presented and well researched. The failure of our local police on this case was absolutely disgusting. There are certainly other avenues that should have been pursued, one of them being the fact that Lawrence was signed to Celtic Boys Club, an institution which had an established network of paedophiles and sex offenders. Celtic has strong catholic roots, the number 110 is mentioned a few times in the bible. Psalm 110 is about a life of holiness and virtue that ends in a painful death, Jesus was pushed 110 times and the crown of thorns he wore left 110 wounds…I don’t think this is a coincidence. The Celtic youth coach Jim McCafferty is currently residing at Her Majesty’s Pleasure with many others involved in Celtic Boys Club, and likely many more still to come.

No reforming his type, once doing that life style, always going to do that life style. Hamilton, who shot all those children, and their teacher, had his crime details stowed away for 120 years, think about the reason why that would happen? I can only come up with one plausible reason, that is to NOT to incriminate some people, they, and their relevant family will be of no concern, after 120 years. Peace and goodwill.

Society has failed the Haggarts and many more by not locking up this Beady fellow much earlier for the sexual assaults he'd committed. Sex crimes ought to be taken much more serious. They are so horrifically life-changing even for the survivors and it's in their nature to get more and more brutal over time.
@always_b_natural703 Жыл бұрын
Sex is a basic drive for the vast majority of people. Underestimating what people will do for the sex they want is foolish. To give fines, minor sentences and early release for known and repeated sex offenders makes society much more dangerous.

Ok, So this guy is gross and deserves what he got, but also, I really feel like the conclusion is incorrect. The case came down to which was lying, the gross guy or the police; which I doesn't count as "without reasonable doubt", and considering evidence was planted, AND the police used their own prejudice to try to pin the blame on the victim's brother, people need to take this as a word against word, not word against infallible fact. What also seems to be an issue is the mutalation with 112. It isn't answered, and I just feel like this crime doesn't match the mo of the accused. He was a rapist (and in my opinion deserves death for that) but not really a murderer. I've seen bondage porn before, and whips and tying up ain't that odd, so basing a want to kill on that, seems like just another attempt to force a guilty verdict. Please don't get me wrong, this man deserved what he got for his other crimes, but this feels like a short fall in the justice system. There was doubt. He should not be declared guilty.
@dontmindme6332 жыл бұрын
I expected a not guilty verdict. Agree, the man needs to be incarcerated for life, but I don’t think he’s the guy. Can’t remember if or what weapon. No mention of the numbers. No rape. It wasn’t him. And it wasn’t the brothers.

Brian Beattie is a POS that I have zero compassion for, but there was some serious gaps in the evidence presented here. Did Beattie ever mention anything about the fire or mutilating the body during his confession? It would be an easy way to find out if he was telling the truth if they tried to use that information to bait him and see if he gave the correct answer. Did they ever discuss what the number 1011 meant? First time I was not 100 percent certain of the suspects guilt during a case file episode. He probably is guilty but definitely unanswered questions.
@ulalaFrugilega4 жыл бұрын
John M For quite a while I was pretty sure that B. was innocent of this crime, but I don't mind him being locked up for the rest of his natural life. Or die soon, or sth. I just felt the confession was totally unbelievable, sure the police made that one up. Too convenient that claim of amnesia about all those points about the numbers and the weapon. But whoever did it would have gotten away with it, then… that is scary. Also, he had the hammer, they found the bottle, his alibi wasn't worth mentioning to start with. And those numbers… couldn't they be unrelated, maybe?
@probableflaws35974 жыл бұрын
@@ulalaFrugilega Yeah I have no sympathy for Beattie himself as he should be locked up forever for the crimes he did commit. Like you said I’m more worried that the actual killer got away with it and is out walking around free. I feel like a lot of details were left out in this episode (or weren’t available to the public) so it’s impossible to know for sure. I think it’s possible gave a fake confession for whatever fucked up reason and the police just went with it instead of checking it for inconsistencies.
@probableflaws35974 жыл бұрын

@lisas86143 жыл бұрын
I agree. He should be locked up for life, but there's not enough evidence for a conviction in this case. They definitely didn't care about the truth, even the family. They just wanted anybody convicted and then they're not even satisfied and get revenge on the police and get as much money as they can out of it. This is the first time I thought the family of the victim is totally disgusting.
