I rarely drive in the desert. Drove out and parked the truck in the sand in the cool morning. Around noon tried to move it to the next site and got stuck. I figured it had to do with the moisture in the sand in the morning making it more dense to drive on, but once the water evaporated it was just loose sand.

Nice that the folks weren't intimidated by this experience of being stuck in the snow! I carry chains in my car in the winter, even though they aren't legal in MN. I figure if I get stuck, I can slap the chains on, get unstuck, and take them off again. So far, I've not had to chain up - but I like a back-up plan.
@bruceb4349 Жыл бұрын
@Pet Granny Chains are illegal in MN !? I would think that anything that keeps folks from getting stuck, clogging up the roads, and not freezing to death would be a net positive. Heck, MN should be giving chains away when you buy a car there 😊
@iffykidmn8170 Жыл бұрын
From what I can remember the way MN law read is use of tire chains is illegal except in emergency situations, I have kept chains in my vehicles for decades and used them back during the great Halloween snowstorm and several other times no one said anything most likely because they were stuck and could do anything.😁Back during the storm of 1991 most PDs were still driving around cars I doubt few if any were running 4WD SUVS or had chains. Mpls FD runs tires chains on their rigs during the winter months and do not bother taking them off until spring.
@mikeshuck2760 Жыл бұрын
I see this comment. Tire chains illegal. I can not find a state where it states chains are illegal. Minnesota Bottom Line: Tire chain usage is permitted for hazardous weather or other related incidents only, but may not damage the highway surface. Watching videos from Buffalo NY. People said the same thing. I did not find any such laws. Always similar to Bottom Line: Tire chain usage is permitted for hazardous weather or other related incidents only, but may not damage the highway surface.

Something people don’t think about is snow rated tires are for snow on roadways merely useless for off-road Snow if you had a more aggressive tire then it would dig and grab more ground the snow tires just fill up and you have to spin like hell to keep the tread cleaned out but with a solid street below the snow they work great
@CaseyLaDelle Жыл бұрын
