I was born and raised in NY (Queens and LI) and left for good when I was 30y.o. After joining the military at 18, I realized there were so many places to live that were much better; safer;cleaner, and much more affordable, close to cities or at the very least major towns that have great restaurants, shopping, entertainment, cultural venues, etc. Some of these places are even in the city in some states. After that type of exposure there is no way in heck I would pay an exorbitant amount of rent to live in a closet, with rats and criminals for neighbors. No way!

I don't care how anyone tries to justify the rent on this broom closet, it is an absolute rip off. I would rather commute. My parents own a 16th century manor house in Cheshire, the payments on some of the basic apartments this guy shows us, would cover most of the cost of a mortgage to buy somewhere similar. Bearing in mind, there's 5 double bedrooms, 4 reception rooms, a kitchen, orangery and 4 acres of arable land.

The big air-conditioner mounted at the top of the window was not installed properly or safely. Only the front control panel can be in the apartment, the rest of it must be hanging outside the window. The way it is installed now it will pump hot air back into the apartment which will cause the compressor to run constantly as the air inside will never be cool enough to allow the thermostat to cycle the a/c on and off as it is supposed to.

The first apartment gives you the choice of (illegally - no window) sleeping downstairs or sliding into the cramped loft. There have to be better choices for $4,000/month. The second apartment has tons of space, but not $8,000 worth! The third apartment, though nicely finished, is a studio with a sleeping closet for $6,000. No, thanks. The fourth apartment (the triplex) has reasonably defined spaces and a loft for guests to sleep, though the bathroom is inconveniently placed. For $4,800 it's the best deal of this overpriced selection. I think the $4,650 unit is another studio. BTW, virtually all air conditioners are made in China regardless of the brand.
