Yes. This watch will go to one of you. Where ever you live, you'll get it. You need to HIT the Subscribe button and follow me on instagram @bytechsas. I will select one of you randomly on 5th of April!
Filled my Casio F91W with oil to make it water proof. People call it hydro mod and in theory it works and there are people on the internet who proved it. bit.ly/2UmSt1I
I have no need for a watch that can survive on the bottom of the ocean... But if it can look cool... Then I want one.
It can look great. Mineral oil used to fill watches can be tinted in any color you can imagine. You need oil based dyes to do it, food coloring will not work. I chose blue to match the face and I cannot be happier with the result.
Thanks for watching

I like to have the back cover submerged and pointing inside up before turning it over under the surface and screwing it on. Because it is embossed, it is really easy to trap air under it when lowering it under the oil.

Hi Techsas, what is the purpose of constantly shaking the case with the tweezers @ 3:10 (around-about)? Is it just to get the LCD component into the case, or is the extra shaking also to get rid of bubbles? Thank you. Also did you have any tips to avoid bubbles in the front of the LCD? Thanks
@Techsas
@Techsas 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, the shaking is to avoid bubbles. If there was any bubbles under the module then shaking most likely helped to get them out. Other than that jus try and do everything slowly rather than dropping it in the oil and you should be good.

Hola. F91W has rubber seals on the buttons and they are enough, at leas when I tried. Other models should have seals as well if they mention water resistance (WR). Obviously it's not going to be a diving watch, but good it enough for a casual swim

So here is what they don't tell you about doing this. Firstly, you'll lose the beep..the alarm becomes barely audible after this. Second your buttons are gonna get mushy and sticky and sometimes even dribble a tiny amount of oil on your finger when you press the buttons (the oil on your fingers gets transferred to your clothes) all this so you can go deep diving with your casio f91 that you will never do.

In pretty sure the watch is only waterproof when not pushing the buttons . Every time you push them it opens and a tiny bit of oil will leak

Just did some oil modding 2 days ago... didn't turn out so great, I really need to use a syringe or something to get more air out. I really wanted it to work on my white face timex Waterbury indiglo. I think it would look killer if I could pull it off.
@Techsas

As you can see its doable without a syringe, just need some patience. Squirting the oil out would just create more air bubbles.
