The set design in this film is absolutely top tier, not to mention beautiful - then again, I love Art Nouveau. I really like that despite the obvious use of CGI for the ghosts, all the other effects are practical, and it's aged really well. It all looks so great, even today, because *they actually built it.*

Ya, I think sets should be really built and CGI should be as limited as possible in movies. I actually feel bad for actors who have to act entirely in front of a green screen in some modern movies. I also think it makes the acting worse because they don’t have a real environment to interact with and immerse themselves in the role. Real set, real props, real environment to interact with is the best.

@@Darth-Lesbian I think the original Lord of the Rings trilogy were the last really great films that extensively used physical effects; they even innovated on existing techniques, I think they may have been the first ever to use *moving* forced-perspective shots.

Bill Pullman has been in quite a lot. He was the President in "Independence Day," was in "Spaceballls," "The Grudge" and more. Casper is a comic book and cartoon character. I suspect you're a little too young to know who Richie Rich is, Ashleigh. I read a lot of his comics as a kid. He teamed up with Casper a fair bit. Some people used to joke that Casper was Richie's ghost, because they have similar features in the comics. 💙

Probably because it's all a real physical set with full-size props that someone clearly poured their heart and soul into building, and you can *feel* that just looking at it. They very rarely construct something like that any more if they can avoid it; even back then, the stuff in Casper is pretty much the best in the industry. I wonder if it still exists somewhere?

Ha!! My girlfriend loved this movie. She would cry at that part every time. After about 5 years of dating, I got together with her Mum and we hatched a plan. Her parents host a Halloween party each year, and that year my girlfriend thought I had family commitments so could not go. However her Mum not only made a dress for her like Kat's but a costume like Casper's for me. The plan was to surprise her, when everyone went to dance , I would turn up. But.... I went a bit rogue. Everything went to plan, I came out of nowhere , she saw what I was wearing , started crying , called me a goof, we danced, then I went off script.... As we danced a slipped a ring on her finger and asked, "Can I keep you?".... She cried her eyes out and hugged me. Her Mum, or should I say my Mother-in-law, never knew I was going to pop the question. So she was in tears too. Still married, still watch Casper like once or twice a year, and her parents still host a Halloween party. So you calling it "Creepy" did make me laugh, and hey! Maybe it is, but we were both considered, outside of our friend groups, as the weird creepy ones , when we were at school together. ( we met when we were 13 years old, started dating at 17 after we move from the "Friend zone".) But yeah this film has great meaning to us.

I had Casper Comic Books when I was a kid in the late 50's, he started in 1949, and I was excited when this movie came out! 1995 Casper 👻 was first CG Cartoon with real actors 😳 it was amazing at the time, two year's prior 1993 was Jurassic Park🦕 the first movie to use CGI on a large scale, Steven Spielberg was on a new frontier with them both! I was so amazed with both of them, 😮 Friendly Ghost👻 and Dinosaur's 🦖 🦕 my Childhood came true to life 😂 Peace✌️ and Love❤️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary😊 Great Reaction👍

I have not seen this film in a couple of years, and it's such a good movie. Casper asking "Can I keep you?" in human form was so heart-warming! And Cathy Moriarty was outstanding, as well. She was fantastic in _But I'm a Cheerleader_ which you saw already!!!

The set design for this house is based on actual architecture by the famous Catalonian architect, Antoni Gaudi, but these are pale copies of the existing structures (they're mostly in Barcelona). It's well worth looking into. He was a genius.

I recently found out that the kid who plays Casper, Devon Sawa, is the original lead in the Final Destination movie AND the guy who played Stan (where the meaning of what we would call a ‘stan’ came from) in Eminem’s music video for his song Stan. It blew my little mind! 🤯 😁

I had a big crush on Casper's voice actor/actor as a kid that I would watch this movie a lot just to see him and get really sad he couldn't stay alive at the end (though it was to save Kat's Dad which even as a kid I understood but was still crushed he had to give up being alive in order to help since they only had one flask and Kat's Mom could only do so much). Once I was old enough to watch the first Final Destination movie I didn't recognize the main guy (Devon Sawa) as the kid actor of Casper until I looked it up since I thought he looked familiar and couldn't place him lol 😆 Heard you were watching the first Final Destination movie soon (during one of the IT reactions) so I can't wait to see your reaction to it and if you recognize "Casper" or what you have to say about him "grown up" and the movie 😁 I love the comedy of this movie still to this day! I love the comedy style too and love movies that have it. It's such a shame they aren't made anymore (none that I've seen at least) Also, can I keep you?
