The set design in this film is absolutely top tier, not to mention beautiful - then again, I love Art Nouveau. Ya, I think sets should be really built and CGI should be as limited as possible in movies. I actually feel bad for actors who have to act entirely in front of a green screen in some modern movies. I also think it makes the acting worse because they don’t have a real environment to interact with and immerse themselves in the role. Real set, real props, real environment to interact with is the best.

Ha!! My girlfriend loved this movie. She would cry at that part every time. After about 5 years of dating, I got together with her Mum and we hatched a plan. Her parents host a Halloween party each year, and that year my girlfriend thought I had family commitments so could not go. However her Mum not only made a dress for her like Kat's but a costume like Casper's for me. The plan was to surprise her, when everyone went to dance , I would turn up. But.... I went a bit rogue. Everything went to plan, I came out of nowhere , she saw what I was wearing , started crying , called me a goof, we danced, then I went off script.... As we danced a slipped a ring on her finger and asked, "Can I keep you?".... She cried her eyes out and hugged me. Her Mum, or should I say my Mother-in-law, never knew I was going to pop the question. So she was in tears too. Still married, still watch Casper like once or twice a year, and her parents still host a Halloween party. So you calling it "Creepy" did make me laugh, and hey! Maybe it is, but we were both considered, outside of our friend groups, as the weird creepy ones , when we were at school together. ( we met when we were 13 years old, started dating at 17 after we move from the "Friend zone".) But yeah this film has great meaning to us.

The original was a cartoon about 40 years or more before this movie. I watched Casper cartoons in the 60's when i was young.

I recently found out that the kid who plays Casper, Devon Sawa, is the original lead in the Final Destination movie AND the guy who played Stan (where the meaning of what we would call a ‘stan’ came from) in Eminem’s music video for his song Stan. It blew my little mind! 🤯 😁

Wait! Devon played Stan? I thought Eminem played both roles! I guess that's how closely I paid attention. 😂

In 1995 when this movie dropped I was 12 and I developed a big time crush on Christina Ricci after seeing this one line that always stuck with me Fatso: "I feel like Oprah on hiatus" Stretch: "You LOOK like Oprah on hiatus"

"Did Casper just fall in love with a human?" It's Christina Ricci, we all fell in love with her.

I saw this in theaters when I was a kid and it's one of the perfect family movies of the time. I had a huge crush on Christina Ricci at the time and every girl my age had a huge crush on Devon Sawa at that time. It was a movie that had something for everyone and it's so whimsical and fun.

I'm so glad you watched this, I loved this movie growing up and it still holds up. My heart still melts when he says "Can I Keep You?" so I'm glad this was the phrase. 🙂

@@Cheesy_Chiffon It makes sense the floor she's on was said to have both "playful children" and their nanny according to the video on her Awkward Ashleigh channel. The key demographic for a family movie like Casper.

Christina Ricci is not the original Wednesday Addams but the second. The original Wednesday Addams was portrayed by Lisa Loring in the 1960s TV series.

I had a big crush on Casper's voice actor/actor as a kid that I would watch this movie a lot just to see him and get really sad he couldn't stay alive at the end (though it was to save Kat's Dad which even as a kid I understood but was still crushed he had to give up being alive in order to help since they only had one flask and Kat's Mom could only do so much). Once I was old enough to watch the first Final Destination movie I didn't recognize the main guy (Devon Sawa) as the kid actor of Casper until I looked it up since I thought he looked familiar and couldn't place him lol 😆 Heard you were watching the first Final Destination movie soon (during one of the IT reactions) so I can't wait to see your reaction to it and if you recognize "Casper" or what you have to say about him "grown up" and the movie 😁 I love the comedy of this movie still to this day! I love the comedy style too and love movies that have it. It's such a shame they aren't made anymore (none that I've seen at least) Also, can I keep you?

Christina Ricci is actually the second Wednesday. The original, Lisa Loring, died back in 2023 at 64 years old. I met Christina at comic con.
