If I can get Quest 64 running well, and accurately, on an emulator (because I really don't want to buy that shit and it's not on Virtual Console) then Quest 64. If I can't, I'll either do a video on the almost RPGs of the N64 (Gauntlet Legends, Pokemon Stadium, Hybrid Heaven, etc.) or just do the final game as I pool my money to buy a legitimate copy of... whatever the fuck Quest 64 is called in PAL regions. Holy Magic Century or some garbage

From when I played this game years ago, I don't remember any issue with running away in battle. There's still a rather large "ESCAPE" button directly below the basic attack command your cursor starts on every fight, and it still functions whether there's other escape related hexes or not. A lot of the other stuff I do agree with, especially the bloated and grindy evo trees. Also, the hexes don't cover up your health, at least not the hp bar of the Digimon you're actively on at that moment, which is displayed right in the center of the screen. I vaguely remember clicking one of the thumb sticks also hid all hexes so you could see the battlefield and other hp bars at any time, which would have also alleviated that issue to a degree. The perfect fix, I would say, would be having single hexes like the command all item gives but maybe with a "x1/x2" etc beside them to display how much your Digimon wants to use that particular skill

@Caspicum7 жыл бұрын
I'll definitely follow the series as new games come out. I've taken quite a liking to the Next Orders and Cyber Sleuths, as I think they're the best entries outside of the original Digimon World. I'll probably be talking about Digimon until I eventually quit KZbin or die, hey. I've had a few people say they want two separate videos, but if it's a Pokemon Red/Blue deal, then I'll likely combine them.
@RobertMatoRec7 жыл бұрын
I give a fuck. I'm happy to see one of these pop up in my subbox. And as for Dusk/Dawn, they're the same game from different perspectives. So one game has a couple levels that the other doesn't, whatever game you aren't playing has the "bad" team, etc. So one video with a shortlist of the differences would be perfectly doable, but it is more detail than a Pokemon red/blue situation. If you do want two videos, making the review about one version then a bonus video covering the alternate reality that is the other version might be a good and simple approach to keep things organised, without having to repeat yourself.

My only thought throughout this entire review is how in the hell does Casp know what two cats fucking sounds like, Does he actively search the neighborhoods to try to find as many cats having sex as humanly possible. If so, than that's one hell of a commitment. Casp O'saurus I would say do one. Because do you really want to suffer those huge ass random spawn rates? I would do dusk as it has more places to go(assumingly) but dawn is better to look at in terms of main area. I would say, if your willing to do both, get an action replay and turn off random encounters and get all "digi dex" info then get 999% data on all digimon (because it only gives 999% to the digimon you have in your list when you use it. So getting the all filled out "digi dex" code first is better) and then digitize some Megas and steam role the other version.

You're the hero Digimon fans need. Admittedly though as a kid I 100% completed the game, including getting all digivolutions for every character and beating all the secret bosses. Looking back, no way could I do that now. I had such lower standards back then that I even spent over 100 hours on Digimon World 4. Ugh. Next Order and Cyber Sleuth are really fun and stylish though, particularly Cyber Sleuth with the stylish, so I think I can forgive it a little. They're getting better at making Digimon games now that they're realizing that the series works better with slightly darker themes or a more "teenage anime" feeling rather than a kid's show. Especially since the majority of players at this point are young adults or older. Do you plan on reviewing the Digimon fighting games at any point? Rumble Arena 1 and 2 were my childhood, and I still think highly of them to this day.

I never played this one as I was waiting until I got around to finishing the Savers anime one of these days. The hexagon thing is just weird. Them filling the screen looks kind of cool, but is way too intrusive and troublesome. If I was going to do it, I'd basically stick with that simple menu, and maybe there could be conditions where your digimon is provoked or upset or something, then like an air raid siren or something goes off and the screen flashes red and fills with the hexagon's and you have to try and manage what they want to do, but it should be a unique issue you deal with, not a core game mechanic. It's cool that the 7 great demon lords are in it, and playable at that. I assumed they weren't what with the set partners, but checking a guide it seems at least some of them are, so that's a plus. But I'm not exactly excited, especially with the encounter rate.

Going from digimon world 4 to this was something i didn't mind too much. Heck i got my digimon up to max level, nearly got all the digivolutions for each digimon, i can say i spent a good 300+ hours on this game alone. Savers was my favorite season of digimon so i guess little me sorta got blinded by this game's inconsistency and flaws because holy shit going back in to start over just ain't happening for me. I stuck to my 300+ hour game file and basically played: "How can i kill the final boss in 1 turn this time?" I recall pretty much everything about Savers, I honestly thought the plot for this game was so underwhelming though once i learned what exactly were the seven demon lords. We only got Belphemon in Savers and karata too i guess and it took burst mode to beat them. Then we had the royal knights and king yggdrasil. Instead of getting a copy-paste of the anime we got a game where its only bearable until you digivolve into something you didn't want. I still like savers, pretty sure im a minority when it comes to that, but i honestly just don't like this game anymore. Going in a second time with a much better understanding of what the antagonists are actually capable of and how the story builds just felt meh. Though the clusterfuck of hexagons was never a bother to me, I was still able to read the health but that was just me, but i agree they seriously could've done so much better with that. Wait why am i commenting so seriously on a mediocre game on a 7 month old video
@Caspicum6 жыл бұрын
Don't stress about it, my dude. I still monitor old videos and try to respond to everything, so thanks for the comment! I've never been a fan of the anime outside of enjoying the first season when I was 11 or something, so it's interesting to hear from people people who enjoy the anime then try to get something of worth out of the games. It's also a shame that certain anime never got a good adaption, but I guess that happens with a lot of shows. Gotta say though, there're some games which I love regardless of how bad they are, and I don't know if it's a nostalgia-driven thing, or if it's that the game had some really cool ideas, and just didn't execute them particularly well. Thanks for the comment!

If there's one thing that almost made me stay for the new journey of my new play through it was that music, the battle music was catchy enough to not be annoying, plus the transition from after a certain point in the game where the music goes from this light beat techno-like music to a more serious song was something i can't get enough of. Though if we're talking games we love regardless of how bad they are for me its gotta be sonic 06 and it used to be digimon world data squad until i got spoiled rotten by other jrpg games. for some reason, i just enjoy sonic 06. But yeah, even little me who tried his best to enjoy the game and did, didn't enjoy how the digivolutions were like a gamble at times because you'd meet a condition during battle and likely chance a poor 10-12 year old can't remember what digimon you were close to meeting the conditions for. Even little me felt frustrated by the slap in the face the game would give me when my mega level goes back to a champion level.

I'm curious to know if you'll be utilizing DNA Digivolution in Dawn/Dusk? Most, if not all of the absolute most powerful Digimon in those games can only be created that way.
@Caspicum6 жыл бұрын
I tried a couple of times, because I love Omnimon, and I generally try to get him in every game he's available. However, I didn't get him, but it's been so long I don't remember why. I'm pretty sure I had to devolve and then re-level my MetalGarurumon up to 75 or 80 or something, and I just didn't have it in me. Especially considering all I really had left to do was a few side quests and the tamer ranks, which I just gave up on. I wasn't committed to the grind like I was in DS, and I'll detail why in the video. I like getting powerful Digimon, but grinding for hours to get them isn't worth what little content is in Dusk/Dawn. DS kinda justified the heavy grind with the deadly sins, but unless I'm missing something big, I think I did pretty much everything in Dusk/Dawn.
@fusioncell76696 жыл бұрын
That's fine, I completely understand. DNA Digivolution requires quite a bit of patience, especially making the best like ZeedMillenniummon and Chronomon HM. Whenever I restart one of these games I make sure to get started on doing the ones available to me as soon as the the Digimon required become available, especially the longer ones. I also can't deny that practically all of them are quite obscure to make.

Also, just in case you don't already know. Only the Digimon you use to initiate fusion is the one which needs to have met the requirements. I remember not knowing about this when I initially started doing DNA Digivolution.

I'm not even four minutes into your video and I thought to myself, "Why not just watch the anime?" Like you said in your description - no one was asking for this kind of Digimon Savers game.

Nah fuck anime dude. I watch real man shows like Avatar the Last Airbender and Korra the First Gender-Bender

Casp O'saurus LOL. It's just a waste of a game and this video made me never want to touch it. Then again, I mainly played the old Digimon World games and opted out years ago from things like this.
@razorthecurse7 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough I was going to play this exact game for the first time but instead decided to check if my shin megami tensei 3 copy would work this time and here I am a few hours into that masterpiece instead lmao. As for Dawn and Dusk, should you make them their own videos? No. Can you? Yeah but like... you'll repeat yourself a lot. To put it simply without spoiling anything, think of them like a pokemon game duo, Dawn: version exclusive mangs, quests and "one side of the main story," Dusk: version exclusive mangs, quests, "other side of main story." I guess creatively speaking I'd recommend just doing like a 20/30 min video covering both since talking about the story might be a good 10/15 minutes, like 5/6 per game I guess. Either way, can't wait for it tho~

Nocturne is my jam! I'm glad you're spending time with arguably the best MegaTen title over this fucking trash. As for Dusk/Dawn, I've been doing some thinking, and I might have a unique idea for it! Excited to see how that develops.

Yeah, I've been really wanting to give SMT3 a go for years and finally got to and man it's kicking my ass, so I'm glad I chose it over this (which I will still play through at least once bc digimang fan). Kickass man, can't wait to see what you come up with for the vid~

comment summary: easter egg 9999 dmg < x dmg = 0 dmg according game with couldnt be calculated error message here's an easter egg, I found a way to power up digimon stats using a certain evolution path (after unlocking what I can without intense grinding). I managed to overpower my Rosemon and ShineGreymon where damage reaches 9999. The easter egg behind this is damage calculation only reaches 9999 and if your power reaches a damage calculation above 9999 then the game responds to you with 0 damage also saying damage couldnt be calculated. That makes it extremely frusterating when youre farming Lucimon for evolution requirements.

As a kid with nothing to do, this game would've been fine. As an adult rapidly approaching death, it'll probably be better than Quest 64, which is next on the chopping block.

Man i really love this game, but hear me out. When i was little i didn't know english (born Brazilian btw), so the story part had 0 effect on me. The battle system was like a Mini game to get the attacks that me and my cousin wanted and the grind part of evo wasn't a Big Deal, because we didn't had money to buy a New game . The game is bad, but i have such good memorys from this... Sorry for any spelling mistakes, it's quite hard to remember Ever word in english =)
@Caspicum6 жыл бұрын
Your English is fine! No worries, mate. I love a bunch of games that haven't held up particularly well either, such as Alundra 2, so going back to them is fantastic, but there are certain parts which make you wish for death. I'm glad someone can play this and enjoy themselves though! Thanks for the comment!

The only ones I know of that are published by Bandai Namco are Digimon LinkZ, which is like the DS game, only without the walking part and weird % system of getting digimons(japanese only =\), and Digimon Heroes, which is a card game...sorta? Idk xD On second thought, I guess you're better off reviewing the digi's fighting games ;P

I loved this game, just as good as it's spin off show. Idk if you know about the secret room that contains the strongest Digimons but you didn't mention it. Also the evolution family tree doesn't work as you think. Grinding will of course take a long time (that's why they added the high encounter rate) anyway the idea to stick in one or two evolution lines to get a mega Digimon. I agree with everything else you said but hey it's a ps2 game in the 2007
@Caspicum6 жыл бұрын
I'm not entirely sure what room you're talking about, you'd have to be more specific, my boy.

Casp in the final area there is a room where you can get Omnimon. on the dragon island place with lilithmon there is a secret pattern you put into the orbs that float to get either darkmon or chaosmon can't remember exactly it's been forever there is also one in the ice dungeon place.

3:15 funny you mention the budget. I remember reading an interview about this game and Digimon World Dawn/Dusk (they were being developed at the same time as data squad). Apparently this game got most of the budget, yup they gave the budget to the shitty one. For the Dawn Dusk review just do a combined one. the only differences are the Digimon made avaialble to you, the dungeons you explore and the perzpective of the story, sure that's more version differences than Pokémon games will ever have but it's not enough to split them into 2 different videos as the core gameplay is the same. Just know that Night Claw rocks.
@Caspicum7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it definitely split people. Some said two videos, while others said one. I don't know if there will be enough for 2, and I can't be arsed making two separate videos, so I'll probably combine them. Also, I'd love to read these interviews. I might try to find them, because Dusk/Dawn seems to be an expansion of Digimon World DS, which is one of the only focused Digimon experiences out there.

9:20 Lewis "SolarisParadox" Medeiros probably won't be a fan of that track because of his dislike of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I's soundtrack sounding like "dying cats". 9:26 Demon Lord (the final boss) reminds me of Origin Forme Giratina. 10:39 I'd say combine the two to kill them with one stone, if you know what I mean.

I just replayed this game and I actually like the gameplay.... The content is lacking tho, and the story is just basic crap. I would add, the hub world could be better by actually being the base instead of just menu, it would result in deeper emotional connection when (spoiler) the real world got thrashed. The post game content is really lacking, there are a lot of megas to fight and a whole secret area with more megas but it's over once you've defeated them, it would be nice if you could rematch some of those megas like bantyoleomon, mercurimon, and the old man and commander. I actually didn't mind the hexagon. The emotion system is actually engaging and unique, it was frustrating at first but it became intuitive when I got the hang of it. You can reduce the hexagon by making your digimon less emotional, I didn't use command all even once in my playthrough, you could say I'm digitally empathetic now lol. I actually had to use friendship reducing items to get 2 evolution to myotismon. Running away was just better with items which now is actually useful, but the evolution requirements are grindy anyway so the encounter didn't bother me. The evolution galaxy is really cool, there just aren't a lot of digimon. I just got every evolution and realize a lot of them are just numemon like every digimon has access to this line it's just recycling content. And a lot of the classic ones like gomamon, tentomon, and terriermon lines didn't get any appearance. It made me realize that this game is actually just a glorified commercial for the savers anime. Sad tho because I really like how different this game feels. Edit: Oh btw, you can press triangle to view your digimon health etc during those messy hexagon thing.
