you should do an active ingredient series!! like, talk about what azelaic acid is and then review a bunch of products that contain it! and do it for tranexamic acid, lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, squalane, antioxidants, centella, peptides, ceramides etc!! i think it would be a great series, super informative with good recommendations!! maybe also include where each product should go in your routine too, like which serum goes first when layering multiple ones!

Cassandra, I have a semi-related question: I'm into nails and recently everyone has been saying to always apply cuticle oil after a nail service to add back nutrients and keep nails healthy. I know that oil is not a moisturizer (at least on your face & body) but is there something different about our hands that makes cuticle oil a necessity or is it just a lovely touch to wrap up a service?
@TrueBeelzebub2 жыл бұрын
It’s usually to lock in moisture already in the cuticle and to keep it from drying out. It’s also just gives a nice shine not to mention many oils do have nutrients that are absorbable into the skin.

You have hit on my two of my absolute faves: Good Molecules and Paula’s Choice. My skin routine is a relatively a rotation of these products. I do use cleansers from Paula’s choice such as Hydrating Gel-to-Cream cleanser and perfectly balanced Foaming Cleanser. But I do like Urban Hydration Products (at Ulta!). I use the Gel cleanser (any Flavor) and then the Micellar Water. Now I love balms and will use that first to loose the makeup. I really want to try Good Molecules balm. I love the BHA exfoliator from Paula’s choice. I use it every three days since I don’t need it everyday. I might use Good Molecule’s niacinimide brightening toner in between exfolitions. I also like Paula’s Choice Pore-Reducing Toner for my daily toner. Then moisturizer, currently a Paula’s Product. I also use sunscreen, usually but not always Paula’s Choice . All my choices are vegan, I hope. Thanks for the review. Going t buy a couple of new products thanks to you.

I absolutely LOVE how Paula's choice 2% BHA affects my skin and REALLY WANT TO USE IT AGAIN but it causes my eyebrows to fall out. Even when I didn't use it for about a month or longer and they stopped falling out and then I used a miniscule amount on my cheeks and nose (not near the eyebrows) AND washed it off after 15 minutes AND even washed it off in a way so the water stream doesn't touch the eyebrows - they started falling out again just after that! I haven't used it in a long while now and basically my eyebrows stayed the same, only this one time I noticed one had some more fall out but then again it stagnated. Did my body overload on some of the ingredients? Is these something similar I could use which wouldn't cause this? I really want to use it again! 😫

The fragrance in Good Molecules was literally the only reason I avoided the brand, so I'm glad they have fragrance free products. Also, Dr. Dray often talks about how difficult vitamin c serums are to formulate so that they're stable and actually do what they're supposed to do. Last I heard, she's said she chooses not to bother with vitamin c. It would be interesting if you did a deep dive into the science behind vitamin c, as well as the whole argument about ceramides and if they can only be effective when combined with the right ratio of cholesterol and fatty acids.

I am most definitely struggling with how to layer my actives, serums and moisturizers. It could be because I haven't found the right combo for my skin. I have a few Good Molecules products, and I love the affordability of everything. However, I am struggling with excessive shine and oil all day long. I have combo skin, dry is some places, and excessively oily in others. Along with being acne prone. I am seeing results from Good Molecules discoloration serum, I am just not sure if I am layering correctly.

@@CassandraBankson Well, the international shipping fee isn't exactly cheap and I am not quite patient enough to wait about a month or more so no I haven't tried anything from Good Molecules but I sure wish their products would be imported to where I am. My must-haves are retinol, sunscreen, and moisturizer, and while I could not find a vegan or cruelty free retinol product, I have found some vegan and/or non-animal-tested sunscreens to use (Bubchen spf50+, Mustela spf50+, Garnier kids spf50+). It isn't exactly easy to find a vegan and/or cruelty-free moisturizer either especially since The Body Shop store can close anytime during the pandemic but I have found that they import some Palmer's cocoa butter formula in the bigger supermarket and I believe their products are non-animal-tested. I still use many products that aren't vegan or cruelty free but hey, it's a start.
