Congratulations on your five-pound largemouth catch, friend! That's a trophy on a good day! And a great many thanks for using some lures of yesteryear that obviously still work well. After 40 years of fishing, the biggest largemouth I ever caught to this day was on a Hula Popper!

Hi Jacob! I have a Hula Popper somewhere in my topsy turvy tackle box! I should try it again! Those old lures still work great! We get a special feeling of satisfaction catching fish on old lures. Thanks so much for watching my shows and for your kind words my friend!

Hi Rus! I'm so glad winter is over too! Fishing in blizzards is not a lot of fun! I was catching them at a pretty good pace, but the big 5 pounder was the gem of this day! Juanelo, your videos are very creative and bring a smile to my face with every one I watch. Want to give away any secrets about production? Are you doing all he camera work on the lake yourself or have your own videographer? Such a joy to be a part of your little part of the world. Keep up the good work!
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Unclered! I don't mind revealing little bits of how I make these videos to those kind people who recognize that I put a bit of effort into them. I do all this alone. The most difficult shot is the first fish caught. I have two cameras, both iPhones set up on the bank. One is at the water's edge and the other more distant, but on the bank. I turn them on by hand. Then I run over to the boat and motor up to where I think I'm in view of the cameras. I start casting, and in some videos, I eventually catch a fish. I secure the fish to a stringer. I motor back to the dock. I run to each camera on shore and turn them off. I set up my tripod in the boat, and put myself in the frame. Then I motor to about where I caught the fish. I reattach the fish to the lure. I start the camera, and show myself hoisting the fish in. Then I throw out most of the footage in editing, and show only me driving up to the spot, casting, catching the fish from two camera angles and swinging the fish into my hand aboard the boat, all in a few seconds! LOL! The other shots are done similarly with tricks, smoke and mirrors! I sure hope I didn't bore you with all this, but now my deceit is exposed! Thanks so much for watching my shows and especially for your kind words and great question my friend!

Congrats on the beast of a bass. I must say I'm a big fan of catching and eating Crappies. Seeing those beautiful big slabs makes me hungry. I have a few in the fridge right now that are soon going to be grilled. Keep up the good work. It is so much fun seeing you and Miss Cheeks.

When spraying a wire rack with cooking spray hold the rack at a sharp angle to the spray and you will use less oil and there will be more spray on the wires. Spraying outside is a good trick, thanks for the tip.
@Juanelo19466 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim! Yes, I see your point in holding the rack at an angle to catch more of the cooking spray. Thanks so much for watching my shows and for your great comment my friend!

Two great lines.....where were we ? and... because I am a rebel.........wow, what a nice bass and those crappie were really bragging size too....classic lures which I have both in my arsenal too....great pepper and onion recipe, got some chopped peppers in freezer now...gotta put them to work .....you really got the timing down perfect on the oven and broiler....another great video sir....you always make me smile....thanks for sharing and for all the hard work that goes into making these videos....till next Sunday....have a great week and tell Miss LuLu hi for us please.....Bren loves the way she gives you a hug at the end of each episode.....
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill! I caramelized those peppers and onions for about 45 minutes. They just kept getting sweeter and more flavorful! Don't throw out those old lures! The fish don't know they're old, they love them as much as any new stuff! Putting that baking sheet under the broiler for 2 minutes turned an oh-hum fish into a taste treat! I got lucky! I need those hugs at the end each video. It's the only way I survive Ms. Lulu's harsh words! Thanks so much for watching my shows and for your kind words my friend! All the best to you and Bren! Have a great Memorial Day!

Hi my dear Susan! This fish dish was oh-hum before I got the brainstorm to put it under the broiler, and voila, a real taste treat resulted! Everything was so yummy. I know what Martha Stewart would say, "you got lucky," and she would be right. But I don't care. I'm looking forward to getting lucky again! Maybe even with Ms. Lulu! Thanks so much for watching my shows and for your kind words my adorable friend! You're the greatest! Big hugglez!!!

Sir, I just found your channel yesterday and I'm hooked on not only the fishing but then the cooking it up. You've got a great presentation and I get a kick from the side story of LuLu the famous food critic who won't marry you. It's sweet. Love the scenes of looking into your dock when you're returning. Maybe show us around in there sometime? Thanks from Oklahoma

Hi D! I've thought of showing more scenes of the boathouse but there isn't much in there except some old fishing tackle, the boat, and gobs of spiders, webs, and spider poop! Holey Smokes! I've never seen a fish that big in real life except in the fish counter at the market! That was some fish! As to husbands "not listening"...we all know the proper authorized official term is "selective hearing".
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry! LOL! It's been 15 years since I've caught a fish that big! I was so lucky! Hahah! I love your term! Ms. Lulu is way too familiar with selective hearing! LOL! Thanks so much for watching my shows and for your kind words my friend!

I have to admit that after being married for almost 33 years my husband tends to stop listening as well. However, they do become a great friend if you last long enough. As long as my husband and I have been married, I have always been the one to take care of him. However, I just got out of the hospital this past Friday after having a seven hour surgery a week before hand. Now, instead of my being the nurse in the family, I have been teaching him how to help me with dressing changes and the dear man has been waiting on me more than he has ever had to. When you have a husband like that you are blessed!
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Hi Janine! OMG, honey, what happened? You poor dear!! I had no idea you were in the hospital! I think most husbands lose their concentration over every day topics, but when their care taker is sick, their best, loving instincts take hold. They will sacrifice anything to make their beloved well again. I'm really glad that you got one of those good hubbies! I hope you get well sooner than soon! I'll be sending you all my most positive thoughts. Ms. Lulu sends you her best too! Thanks so much for watching my video my dear, kind friend!
@gracielee45617 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much to you and Miss. Lulu for those kind thoughts. First off if you ever notice that I don't respond to one of your videos the night that it was posted, somethings wrong! I'm that hooked on you and Miss Lulu's shenanigans! That has only happened twice. Once last November when diverticuli in my colon perforated and I had an emergency surgery that ended up with a colostomy. Last month I developed a hernia in that area and they took me in to repair it and reverse the colostomy. They both took 7 hours. Anyway, I am now a bagless lady lol! I hope that wasn't too much info. but you did ask! Thanks for your concern and I gotta say I love you both lots!
@Juanelo19467 жыл бұрын
Oh, my adorable bagless lady!! They fixed you all up! But you went through some hell to get to this point. Get all better and stay well my dear friend! You must! We insist! We love you so much!
