I agree but however when they have interviewed all of the remaining Next Generation cast when Into Darkness was in cinemas, they were ask one important question "If J.J. Abrams came up to you and ask to play your role in the Next Generation reboot would you accept?". And there straight answer was yes!

Spiner could probably still be Data. He looks great. Stewart on the other hand is getting kinda old. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent actor and no one could ever nail Picard like he did. He made Picard. He's just, hmm... not cut out for something like that anymore. Especially if the Next Generation reboot was going to have sequels.

Hollywood is, above all else, a profit driven machine. If they know they're guaranteed to make their money back with an old franchise, they're going to do it. The reboots will keep coming. Soon enough we'll have reboots of reboots of reboots. People will be comparing the new reboot to the original reboot.

I agree and disagree. I think to an extent its like people playing classical pieces from great composers ect, or old theatre. Or musicians doing covers of classics. I agree that it is a money making tactic for the most part since the writer strike (we really need a fair stake in what we create, with understanding that those who take the financial risk will always have more to gain) yet at the same time I do believe it is benificial in keeping these concepts alive. Sadly it might take away from the original creation, but it might make people revisit the origin.

Well i guess if your younger and haven't seen the originals then a reboot is a good thing. But for older people like myself that grow up on the originals then it just comes off as not only redundant but as a violation of your childhood. So i say instead of reboots lets see more squeals because at-least that is somewhat original and continues the story.. Like what they are doing with the Goonies 2 and Star Wars 7 ...

Tom Cruise was a good idea for Data, but I think better would've been Keanu Reeves since he's very adept at playing pasty, inhuman, emotionless dudes who often make Jesus-like heroic sacrifices. The other option, since the Star Trek Reboot is supposed to be in an alternate universe and all the characters are supposed to grow up into the same people, is that because Brent Spiner's too old to be recast the ret-con would say that Dr. Noonian Soong modeled Data (and by extension Lore) after a former love interest or daughter, so that the part could be played by a woman.

Mr Frakes was pitching the idea of Capt Riker in the Beta quadrant but it fell threw - Mr Dorn pitched the idea of Ambassdor Worf, again Paramount blocked it. If anything give us a CGI version and we the fans will go from there. And BTW, I liked Riker, he was someone you could relate with in many situations.

I hope these guys are joking because all these choices are horrible. Are you guys REALLY Star Trek fans? I got a better idea. How about instead of re-hashing where everyone's gone before and make a completely NEW show? Set in the future of TNG. Like Star Trek Online or further? New ship. (Possibly called Enterprise) New crew and new actors. New frontiers to explore. New enemies. Star Trek should really be about moving forward, not looking back. "reboots" just cheapen the originals and never re-capture what made the originals memorable. Classics should be respected, not replaced

It would be awesome to see a quasi-reboot sort of thing. Like reboot a part of one of the major story arcs from Star Trek, but show it from the point of view of a totally different ship and crew. Imagine how awesome a movie could be if it used the Dominion War story from DS9 but centered around a starfleet ship more directly involved.

I totally agree with you. Well said. I didn't like Into Darkness. At all. It nearly made a mockery of The Wrath of Khan. But that movie is so great, that Into Darkness just came across as subpar. When I first started watching this video, I nearly stopped because I thought recasting established classic characters from any Star Trek series is an impossible feat. But I then turned to expect that these four guys just wanted to be funny, and that's about what the video was. A funny joke.
