Castles EVERYWHERE!

Castles are one of the most important buildings in AoE2. Whether it's for defense, offense, or to make trebuchets and unique units, they are SUPER strong. In this 1v1 a player somehow gets to insane castle numbers, while the enemy still tries to pressure. Will the castles be enough, or will raids work out anyhow? Fun game from my stream last week, where there was a weird twitch bug lol. Hope you enjoy!

I do enjoy seeing the "Not really the top top" games being casted. Some wacky strats are demonstrated at this level, whilst also still being very much expert games. Mind, I also incredibly enjoy the "high level" 900-1300 ELO games that pop up, too. Simply because they tend to be pretty insane - but finding ones that're engaging to watch is difficult.

I like this level. Especially with so many great tournaments and such these days we get see the top 20 or top 40 a lot in those settings so getting to see more stuff that's in the say top 200 but not top 20 would be good. These players are also a tiny bit more relatable ... vaguely achievable micro instead of deity level stuff. :D

40:06 Yes!! I'm relatively new to this game and I absolutely love your more relaxed non-tournament castings!! The 2k level is pretty fantastic to watch and since the mistakes aren't as heavily punished as in tournaments, we get to see some more risky strategies and interesting gameplays.

Thanks T90 for your efforts, ... this year I will be 40 but I have never played it competitively as when I was a teenager the PC was still considered to be a luxury where i am coming from and the internet ... well, that was Si-Fi still ... so I remember playing AOE/AOC, of course cracked, for who remembers those times, on a rusty old computer a friend of mine used to own taking turns against the AI or just spending sleepless nights, building villages, such humble but happy times .... and now because I understand the game and you T90 have a way of casting that is super enjoyable, I have to say, more and more I prefer watching AOE instead of football to relax ... who knows maybe soon enough I will harvest the courage to get involved and be part of the community by actually playing this awesome game, are you guys still playing LAN games? :))) probably not ... I love watching these sorts of games. I was watching Dragonstar after you cast MBL v Barles red bull qualifier last night and you're right!! These players don't get the recognition they deserve. Also, as a fellow Brit it's great to see a UK player (unless they just use a UK VPN...) at the high level. It's great to see all the best players punish even the tiniest mistakes their opponent makes, but it's also cool to see high level games play out with a few more mistakes, where it seems that the better strategist is the one who'll win (like in this game). I think we can potentially learn more from these games as beginners/intermediate players. Also great job casting a game with no chat interaction. Still so much hype!!! I love it. Keep up the good work. :)

Red threw this game as soon as he decided to castle push a cav civ without any walls. Its just too easy to avoid castles when they're built back to back like that in one area. Didnt even attempt a defensive castle on the south side until it was too late

I like the high mid level games. Consistent action, but they still stumble here and there for good thick sustained interest. High level games CAN get boring because they can tend toward the formulaic. Low level games are fun, but not as fun as mid level. Do you cast totally new people? Like their first game ever? That could be a fun thing to do occasionally. 'can we tell if this is a good player that made a new account, or a total newbie?' maybe new guys have certain habits ingrained from playing AIs only that you can discern.

Random question I've been playing AOE2 for 20 years and I could always just right click the boar and it would automatically send a villager to the boar. Now when I right click the boar it says "boar is too far away to attack" There are no villagers garrisoned I have tried resetting all the hotkeys and changing to different hotkey set ups. Can anyone please help me revert the game back to how it was???? Thanks in Advance

It's a community meme. The face is Daut's, a veteran player who is still playing top level and is quite famous for that. He tends/tended to build bold castles without the proper amount of villagers, hence they would be stopped just before being finished, wasting the stone and creating the term "Daut-castle"
