Raiden III’s stage 2 theme, Electric Resistance is basically a cover of Vampire Killer. The stage 3 theme is also called Dawn of Sorrow, which can only mean the composer is a Castlevania fan

Very nice speed run. It's funny watching younger people do these. Not a speed runner but a old school player of this game when it came out (I was 7). The only reason this guy knows to do the level jumps by getting hit by a enemy is bc of old school gamers non stop playing back in the day and passing the secrete along. He's this good bc of the internet. We didn't have the net back then to learn walkthroughs or glitches. I'm not hating. The kid put time in this game. Congratulations sir.

I first played Castlevania in 1990, & I finally beat the game for the first time in January 2018 (I could never figure out how to defeat Death). How exactly did you defeat the first level Giant Bat in one hit? If you go up the stairs, will it always follow or will it fly in another random direction? Does anything happen if you collect all of the games' hidden treasures, or are they just for points?

If you get hit by an enemy at the same time you attack it’s a critical. Attacks on stairs also do four times damage to the bat. That’s how you kill it in one hit.

This is one of my all time favourite games and one of the best games ever, a timeless classic. Played this through last week. But this speedrun is very finicky, there is a lot what can go wrong like damage boosting jumps, jumping over the dragon head cannons or walking through the axe knights. I can beat this game easily but never tried to speedrun it.

It's called the critical hit glitch and he uses it on Dracula too. If you hit a boss on the exact frame they hit you, for some reason it does significantly increased damage. Watch the Dracula fight, on the 2nd appearance his first whip does only 1 bar of damage, but when he hits him at the same time he gets hit by the fire it drains 5 bars off Dracula. The first boss is just so weak 1 critical hit kills it.

For the bat specifically you also get a damage multiplier of four times for hitting him while on the stairs. Otherwise the crit alone won’t kill.

If you hit a boss on the same frame it damages you (like the first bat) it causes a one hit kill. This is also how some hits on Dracula do so much damage.

Its amazing watching how beautifully crafted these old games are. Watching a speed run points out so many flaws in some games. I would probably spend a week trying to beat this game. (And get hit by every single medusa head). But if you know what to do and when to do it you can master a game and beat it so fast. Its almost like the devs were speed runners too lol

There is something going on in the game itself. If you go to the 10:22:25 mark of the speed run you will see that KMAC game is moving a bit faster. When this video goes up the stairs the screen goes black before KMAC's yet the Skeletons in the next screen are moving faster and KMACs jump before this guys video (sorry dont know your name), which allows KMACs run to catch up.

Já zerei em emulador com *save state* mais do jeito que ele fez humilhou demais! For everyone wondering since there seems to be a lot of comments about it: The bat is killed using a critical hit, more commonly called a crit. We deal damage to an enemy (not just a boss, any enemy can be crited) on the exact same frame in which it deals damage to us. In the case of the bat, being on the staircase does double damage so it one shots it. In the case of the mummies, the mummies are overlapping each other which yields the crit instead of having to take damage yourself. Don't y'all watch twitch LUL
