I literally yelled, "Dude, what are you doing?!" when that yellow dye almost landed. 😅 Beautiful design, though. Great effect. Kinda wild how the green that showed up in the orange disappeared once it dried. :) ETA: I think you might have less trouble if you use a wider angle on your rack. Tilting it that far probably caused all that trouble with the powdered dye. Oh, and here's a tip: line your surface with newspaper if you have to get dye on it.

I made this same one, and altho mine could use a bit more blue, it came out amazing. I did it the same way he did but I tied mine a bit looser I believe, so didn't have the same issues with the ice. I did have the same blue run down mine, and it also disappeared. Have no idea what might cause that...any ideas?

Honestly, I actually kinda of like the white in the center, but it might be interesting to start with a block shirt, discharge most of it and then dye that part as fire & ice. Then the center line is black and it doesn’t split. Of course, discharging black doesn’t leave white fabric, so subtle colors will potentially be altered or lost completely. Still could look cool, though.

I would try flipping it over and doing a little dusting of black in the center (or two blacks, a warm one and a cool one, on the appropriate sides). The 'outtake' at the end with the clean-up gave me a great laugh. I've been in that same situation... Also had a black finger for days from when there was a hole in my glove once.

Clorox cleaner with bleach gets dye off of any surface. Loved the extra little vid at the end!

A mr clean magic eraser will take the dye right off that table…one time my cat snuck in the cupboard while I was bent over the tub setting up tie dye…I left the bathroom, closed the door and 20 min later heard a crash. My heart sunk immediately and I ran to the bathroom to find it even worse than I had feared…purple paw prints EVERYWHERE. The toilet, the lid, the tank, the floor, the cupboards, the countertop, the entire bathtub and the walls…oh god the walls…magic eraser took it all off. Those things really are magic

BEAUTIFUL! I also love your Macgyver set ups.... I use Glad Wear, I cut the bottoms out and you can reuse them instead of card board. My card boards set ups have failed me a few times lol!! Your videos are awesome and so is your ART! Deep orange has disappointed me a few times could have been a bad batch.

First, the end was great, thank you for leaving that in. As you well know, anyone who deals with dyes - sooner or later, they strike (literally) where you do not want them. We rented a gorgeous old Victorian about the time I was just learning to really dye roving and a bottle tip was not punched correctly- hence I had vibrant turquoise all, and I mean all, over the bathroom, and I am not normally a fast mover, but I was flying around that room. I did learn that so long as I was gentle and the paint was not a gloss paint on the walls, I could gently use a Mr Clean eraser for parts of it. Have been paranoid about it when renting since. A for the shirt, if I ended up with that design, I would squirt soda ash over the white angled line (front and back) and use liquid dye to add a pop of probably violet, grape, or that Galactic Magenta and let it batch in a plastic bag or just covered for a day. Or squirt soda ash over the white areas, then carefully place ice and sprinkle the desired color(s) over it, letting it drip over a rack. I often double or even triple dye to get the effect I have in my mind, combining techniques for different effects. Most of the time I am happier the second or third time around if I did not get what I hoped for the first time. Great colors, I enjoyed it, especially the dyed fingers which I seem to always have, no matter what care I take. Thanks!

That was so much fun to watch!! Your ingenuity of the setup was great, your cleanup catastrophe was relatable LOL... I have a table that stains instantly when the dye touches it, so I keep a magic eraser with a little dish soap on it near me and wipe up immediately and that seems to do the trick.

I love the idea and the design. My idea would be to add the color closer so not as much white is showing as you pointed out and I think using the black is a great idea followed by red, maybe fire red. I think the fire and ice concept, speaking of the fire in that there’s not enough red and too much of the orange. But I love the set up and the design. So I think you should do another one. You have wonderful videos and I can’t wait for your fall color combinations and designs. Thanks so much for sharing!

I use a cleaner from Young Living called Thieves, I use it to clean my table. The dye bubbles up and then you can wipe the table.

We have it and it still didn't take off the remnants of the yellow. Bleach, alcohol, and at least a half-dozen cleaners -- the yellow remnants are still there. It doesn't seem to transfer to fabric; but, wiping a bleach wipe across it will still pull yellow with each pass.

I think it is great the way it is. I like the white down the middle, the variation in pattern and how the yellow dominated the fire side, after all flames are yellow : ) . Too often in tie dye videos I see yellow smothered by orange and red. The only suggestion I have is is to try doing it with the yellow-dominated fire in the upper quadrant and water at the lower quadrant. But it is gorgeous just the way it is.

I like the shirt. I think what you said about turning brown there is true. I think the only thing left is to try the black. I like the white for the separation so the reds and blues don't blend. I'm sorry about your table. You had a rule...

Yep, I *had* a rule... I will say I prefer filming the dyeing in the same area as the folding; but, that will involved permanently breaking the rule.

Alcohol didn't touch the remaining yellow. Nothing seems to be completely removing it.

Not completely. I was using Lysol wipes on camera, switch to Clorox wipes, and then used several spray cleaners off-camera to try and remove it. Everything pretty much came up -- except for the yellow. I was really expecting the blues to be the major issue, not the yellow.

@@CasualCollisions Does that work? I take amitryptiline and was on anti seizure meds to control migraines for years. I take imitrex for worst ones, a natural alternative would be amazing if it works.

@@amandagermany5933 - I'm 48 and I've had migraines since I was 18. I was on amitryptiline for years in my early 20's along with daily ibuprofen as a prophylactic and carried an imitrex autoinjector for many years. I absolutely hated the side effects of imitrex. The migraines seemed to mostly disappear for over a decade and then they started returning about 4 years ago with the beginning of the cognitive issues that I refer to as "Ralph". Then, a few months ago, the migraines began to change into almost purely visual disturbances - spinning black holes in people's faces, double/triple vision, "missing" spots in my vision that grow and then shift off over the course of hours, etc. - and some aural disturbances; but, the pain is usually no worse than a "normal" headache. I went to my primary and he suggested starting with high does (400mg) Riboflavin (vitamin B2) before starting back up with amitryptiline and other options since Riboflavin has no side effects (other than neon yellow urine) and decades of studies show about 90% of the population responds with roughly a 50% reduction in migraine.
